My wife and I are new parents of three kittens.  The mom has lived with us for 3 years. We got her when she was 2 and had previous litters.  She was neglected and not treated as part of a family.  It took her a while to get used to "family" and she has responded very well.  She has become a daddy's girl as well as her little ones.  We could not be happier for keeping them all.

My purpose in writing is about the food issue.  My cat was getting table scraps and cheap filler cat food where she lived before.  My wife and I decided we would try to get her family friendly and healthy, (very underweight).  We switched her to Blue Wilderness Duck and in 3 weeks, her coat, personality and hygeine all changed for the better.  Her littles ones have eaten wilderness since they started solid food and thrive on it.

As far as I'm concerned, the diet is the most important thing for cats.  Once in awhile, the girls split a can of light tuna in water for a treat.

Welcome to TCS. Yes, diet is a very important thing for cats. But the love and attention we give them help the good diet make a perfect pet. You can give the best diet in the world, but without the interaction, they will just be ornaments and not buddies.

Diet is a very important part of their overall health! Canned sardines packed in water are an excellent treat and they have far less mercury.

I am assuming that you will have mama kitty spayed at some point?

Are you feeding the kibble or the canned?  Are you feeding the kittens the same food, because I notice that it's not an "all stages" food, but rather an "adult" food, meaning that they should probably be eating "Kitten" food since it has more of what they need as growing babies.  But it's great that you are giving all four of them a better diet than before, because diet is extremely important
, as you've already noticed.

There are lots of debates on this, but I think the majority of folks (at least those of us who talk the loudest
) feel that feeding wet food is better than feeding kibble.  At least some of the time.  Some people feed a couple of wet meals, but leave out kibble at night, things like that.  I, personally, feed a raw diet, which is a growing trend.  Talk about noticeable changes.  Wow!  My black cats practically sparkle they are so shiny!

Well, anyway, now that the kittens are eating solid foods, time to get Mama spayed
, especially if any of those kittens are boys.  Even if they aren't, when she's in heat her personality still won't be too pleasant even on her new food
