My kitty is 20 years old and has hypertension and hyperthyroid disease and now she has a lump on her nose, the doctor says it's either a tumor or a cancerous cyst which is rare for a black cat to have, hes mainly seen it in white cats, he said it's like the skin cancer people get. He tells me that she may not survive a surgery because of the blood pressure so we are basically stuck between a rock and a hard place. She doesn't seem to even know she has anything in her nose so I don't think it's causing her pain which is good and even with the other health issues she seems to be doing great except for some confusion here and there. Has anyone else had a cat with a nose tumor or cancer on their nose?

I did a quick search from the top of the page and there have been a couple of cats with nose cancer.  One had part of his nose removed, then a few years later the cancer returned, another the didn't operate, just let it take it's course,..

Each circumstance was different.

I'm so sorry your old girl has this issue, but it's good that SHE doesn't seem to know it or feel it.  Some people chose to let it go until their furbabies seem uncomfortable, then help them to the bridge before they suffer.  It's such a hard call.
But 20 years!  What a long life she has already had.  I've never had a cat live that long.  You must take very good care of your cats
  That's so wonderful.

that you and she have many, many more wonderful times ahead

My cat Gracie is seven. She recently had a Basel cell carcinoma tumor on her check. It was removed and our vet said that should be it. Apparently this type of cancer is bad in humans but not so bad in cats. Hopefully, this is the case with your kitty. As Mrsgreenjeans said, you must be doing something right!

My kitty is 7 and has surgery scheduled on Tuesday to remove the lump on her nose.  In her case, it keeps breaking open and bleeding.  We will do a biopsy after the lump is removed, but the Dr. suspects it's malignant.  We also had xrays, and unfortunately a lump was found in her lung.  She is displaying no symptoms of lung cancer at this time.  However, it's always a possibility that the cancer on her nose spread to her lung.  I am very concerned for her, but feel that that the most urgent thing to address is the lump on her nose.  It is the only thing bothering her, as she is constantly rubbing it and bleeding.  I will wait for the biopsy results before I decide how to address the lung tumor.

I'm sorry your kitty isn't feeling well.  If the lump isn't bothering her, at her age, I don't think I would have it removed.  If it breaks open and bleeds, that's an indicator of cancer, and would have it re-evaluated.

Thank you for the responses everyone.
Spook has lived a good life and I hope she has a lot more time with me but if she gets to where she's in pain I won't let her suffer. I got her kitty stairs a few years ago so get on the bed now because her old body aces and she just can't jump anymore I am so sorry to hear about your kitty alicat06. I hope all goes well and it isn't cancer. Let us know how it goes.
