Hi all. So our 7 year old tabby calico mix has that weird blackish grey nodule on her head. It's gotten bigger over the couple of years she's had it. The vet told us not to worry about it, it's probably just a skin tag but I've never known skin tags to grow per se.

It's dark grey and bulbous with a black 'head' on the end of it. Kind of like it has been squeezed out of the bulbous grey bit.

We'd really love to know what it is. Thanks for you help!

If it's growing, it needs to come off (and biopsied), in my opinion. I'd be inclined to take her to another vet for a second opinion, if your vet doesn't want to take it off.

I agree with Otto:  you need to know what it is.  Could be harmless-or not.  If harmful, the earlier the treatment, the better prognosis usually.

If it was me and that growth was on my cat, since it's my cat and my money, that growth shouldn't be there and I'd tell the vet to take it off and send the growth off to biopsy it. If the vet wouldn't do that, I'd get a new vet.

Looks like a nipple!
My cat had a cyst on his head for a number of years, then the vet finally removed it because we thought it had gotten bigger. Like Otto said, if it's growing then it definitely needs to come off. Our vet didn't want to remove Pushy's cyst unnecessarily, and I liked that fact that he didn't push us into surgery just for the $. When it was removed and he healed up in no time.
It's a lot simpler and less expensive to get a little lump removed and biopsied than it is to deal with cancer (if that's what it develops into), and personally I would recommend getting it removed.

Hello :-) my cat has the same thing and I also took her in last year and was told not to worry unless it gets bigger. Just like your cat, Cleo's has grown recently so I have decided to get it removed. By chance did you ever find out what it was? I am stressed. Thanks for any info you can share.
