One of our Oncologists has been sick and hospitalized for the past few weeks.  He had Sickle Cell. This was his 3rd hospitalization since I've known him.

He appeared to be getting better and even went out on a pass from the hospital on Saturday.  Sunday afternoon he died :(

I worked with him in a clinic for over  year until about 18 months ago or so.

It came as such a shock to everyone. He was in his late 40's.  A very sweet man who never had a bad word to say about anyone. He loves his patients and they loved him.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Why does it seem that only good and kind people pass at such an early age? From your description, it sounds like he was one of the good ones. I will pray for comfort and strength for his friends, coworkers and family.

His memorial service is tomorrow. I won't be going. I don't do well at funerals, and there would be no way I could return to work after going. Plus they are having a memorial next week on Tuesday for the staff. Tomorrow is for close friends and family.

He is from England, so his body is going to be returned there.  His children and sister still live there.

I don't know if you can get to this link.  But here is a short obit. The longer one will be on Saturday.  You can tell by the comments, that his patients loved him to pieces.
