I got my cat with her sister when they were kittens, they are both Bengal cats. she was given for free along with her sister because the owner didn't like her. her sister is white with gray-tan markings, like a normal Bengal cat; however, she is solid dark-chocolate brown. her sister has normal cat eyes that are yellow with slits but her eyes are almost completely black with a thin green iris. she is very shy and besides me likes to hide from anyone who tries to pet her, she also likes to ram walls with her head for no reason whenever i pet her. she is 100% Bengal cat, but seems to be something different.

What proofs ARE there they were bengals from beginning?

I mean, it prob dont matters really, but the psyche may be different with pure bred bengals who are very pet quality, and common domestic moggies, who are supposed to be somewhat bengal alike...

Anyway, if a breeder do gives away purebred bengals for free there is usually a reason.  Like here, a non typical looks, making it directly at best a pet quality, and here also - very shy, so impossible to get payment even for a pet quality.

I would guess, a backyard breeder who uses some look alike moggies in his breeding. Some come out beautiful colored, and some - not. And he must make away with these in some way, hopefully finding them homes.

The breeder was lucky he did found here a good home for the girls.   :)

Is she very lively?  If not, forget about the bengal,  look at her as a found, shy girl, perhaps not properly socialized.  It is entirely possible to foster and socialize them, you must just know "what is played", and act thereafter...   :)

Have also a vet check up them, do all the deworming and vaccinations, if you dont have solide proofs it was done (a half hearted message from the ex owner is here NOT enough).  Also do spay them.

Look into the Ferale forum for ideas about how to socialize shy or cats raised in cages and thus not properly socialized, for examples and inspiration.

Good luck!
