Are my Siamese cat's testicles normal or is he a hermaphrodite?

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum. Hi.

I got an adorable seal point Siamese kitten a few weeks ago, and he's just a little over 10 weeks old. I LOVE him, and I've noticed he's got a lot of interesting personality traits and is very needy, but I dig it. He's my first siamese cat and I'm quickly learning how special this breed is.

The reason I'm asking about his testicles is because the breeder I got him from told me that he thought my little Lucifer was actually a female at first because of his light coloring. All the males in his litters are usually darker than the females, but Louie was just as light as his sisters and looked different from his brothers.

I've had a cat before, a grey tabby who was also a very special, loving cat who behaved more like a dog. I remember his balls were bigger than Lucifer's are when he was the same age, and I'm wondering if any other Siamese owners can tell me if they look normal or if he could possibly be a hermaphrodite.

Well, he wouldn't be a hermaphrodite unless he had sex organs from both genders :tongue2:. They do look undescended but he's not old enough to say for sure if they'll show up eventually or if he'll need abdominal surgery to get them out. Or, did the breeder have him neutered? Most good breeders do, to protect their lines from unauthorized breeding.

Hi and welcome to TCS, Little Lucifer!

Because no one has advised you so far, let me give you a short reference on this - if, indeed it is an undescended testicle - because these are best attended to as soon as possible. This link is from a very reputable web author: http://www.harpsie.com/undescended_testicle.htm

He is adorable.  I love Siamese.  He isn't a real extreme modern Siamese and I much prefer the looks of the more traditional Siamese.  Is he real chatty yet?  I love how they seem to hold a conversation with people.

VERY chatty! I love traditional applehead Siamese cats, too.

I always had a bad impression of Siamese cats because my friend had one that was totally insane, but he was always a sweetheart to her. I guess they just have very special bonds with their owners and get very protective and possessive, heh. He was also VERY smart, as crazy as he was.

But Louie seems to love everyone. He's very social and friendly and has tons of energy.

He is such a cutie!  I love the second picture of him stretched out in your lap.  He looks so comfy in his odd little position:)  Actually in that picture he kind of looks like one of those old fashioned teddy bears with the movable arms and legs.  It's just too cute!
Ok, now that I've picked myself back up off of the floor...His eyes are so BLUE too!  They look like the color of the ocean here in Hawaii, gorgeous!

When I was a kid I had twin friends who had a Siamese cat that they'd nicknamed Dooder (always thought that was cute
)   Anyway, he must've realized that they were twins and that they wouldn't take well to having only one of them be the favorite because he was fully bonded to both of them
.  He was very tolerant of them always wanting to hold and squeeze him and even fine with me cuddling him too (though I don't think I ever tried to pick him up).  He always looked grumpy though, but he purred a lot and was always around them by his choice so I guess he was actually quite happy:)

He does look like a Blond Steiff Bear, doesn't he?

He is 100 times more precious than a stuffed bear, I can imagine.
The bear in the picture is a 16" from 1908 and is $2,200
:lol3: :lol3: Hilarious comparison!! :clap::clap::clap:

And, :thud: What a darling little boy Lucifer is!!!!!!!! My Pip is an applehead and rules my house and all that live inside! :lol3:

Thanks for posting the picture catspaw!  That's exactly what I was thinking of :)

On a side note, is that bear yours?  I can't believe you found a teddy bear from 1908!  I bet it makes a great display piece...assuming you can keep the kitties away from it ;)

My 18 month old boy Siamese was also mistaken as a girl when he was 10 weeks old. He and his sister were the only two siamese kittens in a feral litter, and they were both assumed to be girls by both the rescue foundation volunteers and the vet.

When you looked at them side by side, their junk was literally indistinguishable.

I think at that age its normal.

I actually could tell at first sight that it was a boy and a girl, based on their facial shapes, but no one believed me.

I took the two kittens home, wanting a boy but being told definitively they were both girls.

Anyone who's ever loved a little boy Siamese can tell who they are from their eyes regardless of the size of their balls. ;)

Kittens the day I brought them home, Dec 2011

Today, May 2013 (the boy is substantially larger, at 12 lbs, than his tiny 8 lb sister)

Net net, your little guy is perfectly normal. Give him a few weeks and you'll see the goods. (Although it will almost be time to get him fixed, so you won't see them for long).

Ps. That picture of him sleeping like a Teddy bear is hilarious! And adorable.

No, I googled Blond Steiff Bears and that picture was in the images section. I chose the one that looked the most like the kitten picture. My ladies would shred anything that was that nice.  I do have a "Shining Stars" stuffed snowy owl that my brother gave me 4 or 5 years ago that sits on my desk beside the monitor.  It is still in immaculate condition, so I guess the ladies don't try to play with him. His name is "Peruke" , a play on Harry Potter's Hedwig.

They look normal to me. My Siamese, 8 week old babies', aren't even that big yet. My 9month old' are a bit bigger, but I just think your cat's hasn't fully developed yet, that's all.
