Just joined this site, because I haven't had a kitten in years and I don't remember having this issue. My new lil 6 week old kitten is pooping everywhere and its diarrhea. Is she too young to feed hard kitten food? Or what should I do?Plus,I haven't seen her actually go to her litter box on her own,but maybe that's b/c she can't make it in time...? Any help would be so appreciated.Thank you

I think with diahorrea and young kittens, its best to have a vet visit.  They can go downhill very quickly.

I have tummy upset at the mo with my 14week kitten - have already called my vet.  We decided that if there was decline, or no improvement in 24hrs, i would take her in.  You can also take a sample of their poo for analysis as it is quite common for a bug to be the cause (like giardia).

In times of tummy upset, feed some cooked chicken for a couple days (poached, boiled or steamed). I serve it witha bit  of the poaching water so they get enough liquids; naturally make sure they have access to fresh water. I also offer a little natural yoghurt for the probiotics (and no, there's no need to worry about lactose as it is all gone in the fermentation process).  I wouldnt feed kibble due to the risk of bugs coating the biscuits (salmonella contamination is quite common).  My breeder said I could also try some cooked chicken mixed in with a bland canned kitten food - but no fish.  Cats tummies can often be a bit funny with fish.

hope things get better soon!

You should definitely get the kitten to the vet immediately.  Like tammyp says, they can go downhill quickly, in a matter of hours.

Isn't 6 weeks really young for her to be away from her mom?  But, yeah, agree with what tammyp and catspaw said--get her to the vet because if she's pooping that much, and being that little, she can dehydrate really fast.
