pinkman here.

Quick question about probiotics. I am taking NOW Foods Probiotic-10, 50 Billion right now. I want to incorporate probiotics to my cat's diet, but I'm not sure if the kind I am taking is appropriate. I feel like it might be overkill?

Here are the specs:

Strains: Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus salivarious, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium longum, Streptococcus thermophilus

Other Ingredients: Cellulose, Cellulose (capsule), FOS (Fructooligosaccharides), Ascorbyl Palmitate and Silica.

I think the stuff in "other ingredients" don't seem suitable, and I'll probably get a different probiotic for my cat, but I was just curious.

Thanks all.

I give 10 billion. The other ingredients are probably on the capsule... Which I don't give. I just open them and drop the contents on the food. They get it on their first meal, in the morning. :wavey:

I give 10 billion too.  The only difference is that I split it between two meals.  I just open the capsule, pour 1/2 on their food, then put the cap back on till their nighttime meal.

I'll be purchasing some probiotics that are 10 billion soon... In the mean time, if I sprinkle some of the probiotics I take myself on my cat's food will that do more harm than good? Not the full dose, obviously.

I think you'll be fine to share yours with them until their very own arrives

:yeah: Same here. Chumley, for a year, under vet advise, was on 10 billion twice a day. I know the probiotics Mercola sells are 50 billion CFU in the once daily recommended dose.
