I recently made a thread about my cat coughing. I realized she hasnt been coughing any hairballs, so that may be the problem. If I help her out with her hairball problem, it may be the soultion to her coughing. But if she still coughs, then I will taker her to the vet. Anything I could give her to help?

The best thing is to rule out a medical problem first by getting her seen. Trying to do anything else could be delaying treatment for something serious, as it is not for sure she has a hairball problem. None have been coughed up. Is she still coughing?

A chronic cough is usually not caused from hairballs. When a cat is "coughing" up a hairball, something will usually come up. You would be seeing puked up hairballs at least somewhere in the house. I would not wait to get your cat evaluated by a vet. Coughing is usually a symptom of something medically wrong. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for your cat.

I would really like to take her to the vet 100% If I can, but that is really up to my parents. My parents dont want to pay alot of money to take my cat to the vet, they just paid alot of money for us to visit our grandparents in Japan. plus the cat is extremely scared of strangers and hasnt been to the vet since she was spayed.  My parents only take pets when its an emergency and obvious. What should I do? I am stuck. How should I bring this up to my parents? But my thought was my parents can take her to the vet for me as a really early birthday present., I am that desperate. How much does it cost for the vet checkup and possibly chest x-ray? me and my sister might pitch in the vet fee.

Vet costs vary depending on where you live. You can call around and ask what it would cost to bring her in. Her continued coughing and not bringing anything up is sort of an emergency to have her looked at. There is no way around telling your parents that this could be serious and she needs to be seen. I would think they would take her knowing this.

We take our pets to the north sacramento pet hospital. And when she coughs nothing comes out, but once in a while a little yellowish liquid comes out. I will tell my parents about it, they are usually not very hard to convince. It it ok though If I take her after 3-4 weeks, during that time me, my sister, and mom will be in Japan.
