Dear Friends,

There is a young cat in our summerhouse she was very health and fat people were feeding her with natural food, milk etc..

But after one 2 months I went back to city and turned back to summerhouse again I realized that she lost weight. Her face is thinner and eyes look sunken, I gave meatballs and egg but she didn't eat them.. There was something wrong.. I ran to the supermarket and bought a whiskas she ate it. She slept under my arm and stares at my face with sunken eyes.. I'm trying everything. She is drinking milk and eating whiskas. She has a little breath grunt, but when she sleeps she breaths normaly.

I searched for the symptoms and I found "Cat dehydration" I hope it's dehydration because she was very healthy. Also our summer house gardener told me she gave a birth but I don't think so giving birth makes a cat look sunken eyes and tired movements.

Please help me what should I do? How can I treat dehydration at home. I need very urgent help before advising a vet becase as I said I'm near a small village with no vets here. I need to do very much urgent fast action tomorrow. It's 3 o clock at night I can't sleep..

I'm taking care of her now

Thank you very much !!!

Well, the vet is the best option - as it's really impossible to know whats wrong with her. Have you taken her temp? she may have a fever. anything over 103. would be a fever (as cats normal temp is around 101-102) How long ago did she have kittens? Where are said kittens now? It's good that she's eating, but try to see if you can get her to drink. Milk also isn't very good for cats, as they have a very hard time digesting it. If there is a place near you that has raw goats milk, then you can try and get her to drink that.

Keep us updated, and please try and get her to a vet if you're worried.

Wet food has a lot of water in it and if it is dehydration then feeding her wet food (if she will eat) is a good way to boost her water intake.  You say a vet is not a possibility but I would use google and see if there isn't one closer than you think- I have a hard time believing one is more than an hour away, which to me would be a short enough distance to make it worth it.  Frankly, in DC traffic it is like an hour to get to my current vet at the moment anyway despite her being less than 10 miles away, no joke.

Yes going to a vet is best, but it sounds like you are outside north america and we all have to remember vet care is different from country to country. You can try giving the cat pedilyte here is a recipe on this page http://www.kitten-rescue.com/what_to_feed.html it is water mixed with sugar and salt. From reading threads on here dextrose sugar is best- you can also buy pedilyte from the store. And take her to the vet ASAP.

Thank you very much for help! I won't give milk anymore, yesterday I gave water to her  many times forced her to drink and it worked. I'm stick on whiskas and water for now 1-2 days to test her. She sleeps now. As I said before she is a street cat but not a street cat at all !!! very close to human and I heard that she was a home-cat before she was freed and left to the gardener in the summerhouse by an old lady. The cat didn't forget her human relationship. She is still like a home-cat.. I have hope because she hasn't eaten whiskas before, that may work! I'll stick on whiskas and water treatment for now, if you know any other trick please tell me it will be very appriciated.

I live in Istanbul- Turkey. My summerhouse is outside of Istanbul, a nice cute village in the middle of pine forest close to sea and no vets unfortunetely.
