I moved in with my boyfriend around three and a half weeks ago and they have a pregnant cat. About a week after living here I was looking up how to tell when a cat goes into labor and I noticed a week ago that the babies were moving around a lot and they've continued moving around since, she already has a nesting spot and sleeps in it. She has dried flakes on her nipples and they are getting darker as the days go on, you can feel that her milk has came in but isn't leaking any. She is cleaning herself a lot, but not her genital area. She seems sto be uncomfortable and doesn't walk around a lot, she just flops around where ever she gets tired, she is still eating but not as much as she once was. I felt her tummy today for about 30 min and the babies were not moving as much as they were before. She is a very petite cat and is very skinny with a big old pregnant belly, at times it looks like she has multiple hit bones because the babies are popping out of her sides, she is so jam packed, and just seems miserable. I think she is about a year old. I've read everything about cat pregnancy and some say if they move around a lot they are close while others say, if they stop moving they are close, I am kinda confused. I was told she probably has a week left, but I'm confused about the whole if the babies are moving or not means they are close.

They tend to move less in the last days. Or at least, you feel them less, as they are sliding down into positions. The belly tends to look a little smaller too.

It sounds it is just days now, perhaps even hours.

It will be prob a big litter.

Dont let her eat more than 4 placentas, take away the others. - there is some risk of diarrhea if they ate many placentas. Possibly just because it is too much high nourishment at once...

What is she getting for food? Because you surely know she must get good nourishment, think kitten food. Wet food if she ates it.

You do have a kitchen/mail scale to weight the kittens every day?

Good luck!

Yeah they are feeding her kitten food as soon as they found out she was pregnant and a lot of soft food, she was eating 3 cans of soft food a day plus her hard kitten food. She's slowed down in eating, she still eats but just nibbles.

First and foremost...ALL CATS ARE DIFFERENT!!! I know how the waiting game goes. I was able to feel kittens move 3 weeks before she gave birth but some days couldn't feel any movement at all. All cats pregnancy, labor, birth do it differently. Let me tell you my story so you know about what you're expecting... I literally thought kittens were coming within 24hrs for about 2 weeks, she went into labor early Friday morning i could tell it actually was labor because the way she was meowing and a couple hours later she started pushing. 12hrs later... The first kitten was born. 5hrs after that a second kitten was born. 12hrs after that a third kitten was born, and then 24hrs after that a forth was born! So yes thats a kitten born Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday! Was on the phone with the vet almost the whole time. Was told to just let her be, add long as she was eating and drinking water (as much as a cat in labor would be) she is fine and to not interfere. I did however had to cut ones umbilical cord and take one out if the amniotic sac for her but everything was fine! Cats bodies have an amazing ability to heal/deal with just about anything (hints the whole 9 lives thing lol) Its gonna happen when it happens, just be prepared, she will definitely let you know when its time! And chances are, you'll have gotten over the waiting game when you hear that meow... And then you'll know! Good luck

Oh and absolutely no prior signs! Did the temp thing, didn't work, her milk didn't come in until she was literally in birth... Like i said she'll meow a meow you've never heard before make sure some ones gonna be around if you can. Put her in a room if you have to go anywhere you can move them when she's done no matter what people say!!! Mine would've had them all over the house if i wasnt home

Thank you all for your replies. She is very huge, poor thing after she has them there is going to be nothing left on her. She's all prego belly, I think she should have them some time this week, I don't think she can get much bigger.

We THINK KitCat is going into labor, she's constantly licking herself, breathing fast, and we think we saw some discharge, but she has tricked us before. Cross your fingers!
