I have a 7 weeks old kitten that I believe I saw him drink (taste) dirty water from the containing  dish under a potted plant. That water was pretty dirty like the color turns orange since the pot has been fertilized with grass cuttings or so.

We stopped the cat immediately as we noticed he was going for it. But I saw he did get a taste.
The next day the cat slep longer than his siblings, and seemed more letargic than normal. I checked on him, wiped his face with a wet towel and gave him a small amount of water with a small siringe to try to wake him up. He seemed overall ok and just sleepy. He ate but looks like he has less appetite that his siblings.

Today it seemed better but it seems to me he is till not as actve as he used to be. Right now the skin around his eyes looks slightly red. I did not feel like he has a fever but I will go take his temperature next.

My questions are like, what kind of bad things could be in that water?
I was planning on give all kittens a tape worm prazinquantel which was planned for the end of this week when they turn 8 weeks.
Should I hold onto giving it to him if I think his stomac is upset? Or is it a better idea to give it now because of that?

Any other advice or things to check or look for?

I measured his temperature is 103.8. I am so worried. He looks like he has a fever, I have no clue if the drinking dirty water is the cause. I can't be even 100% sure it was this kitten but I think so.

I gave him KMR formula and Gerber chicken baby food. He eats, not as much or as fast as his siblings.

My adult cats do this all the time too. Very frustrating when they drink the water out of flower pot saucers rather than the nice fresh clean water in their bowl. I guess it just has a more interesting "vibrant" taste.

I don't know what you mean by "the color turns orange since the pot has been fertilized with grass cuttings or so" Grass clippings would turn it green, wouldn't it?

Anyhow, grass is natural. If you had said you used an insect-killing spray or somthing like that, then I would worry. Just keep an eye on him and see how he goes. When we watch so closely we often see things that seem different but may be happening frequently, we just don't normally notice.

That temp is not that high for a kitten. 102.5 is totally normal, so while 103.8 is high it is not as if a human had that temperature.  You probably know this and I don't mean to be patronizing but I wanted to make sure you are aware.  I've had vets pooh-pooh a 103.5 temperature (and they were right) so if it were me I'd not be too concerned about that number.

If you are really concerned I think it's maybe time to make a trip to the vet, since this has been going on for 3 days.  However, from what you're describing i think I'd just continue to keep an eye on him.  since it sounds like he is still eating and playing (even if not as much as he used to be) I don't think there is any huge cause for alarm.  If he stops doing either of those things, I would go to the vet at once.

In addition, it's worth considering that if something is wrong with the kitten it might not be related to the small amount of 'dirty' water it managed to drink. My kittens have both literally jumped in the toilet before it was flushed (on different occasions), then licked themselves off while refusing all my efforts at bathing them (I did get some in but it was basically like score kittens:3, human:1 the whole time) and both ended up being totally fine and were only a tiny bit older than yours so if something is wrong with your kitten I'd definitely consider the possibility that it's something else causing the problem.

My cats often drink out of my toilet. I do my best to keep it clean, and infact I scrub it daily and rinse it with the mouth wash after I use it in  my mouth.

I don't know how to eplain how the water from those pos become orange, but it does. The grass clippings is being mixed with potting soil and since then the water that collect in the pot saucer becomes yellow, then orange and has a strong 'organic' smell. If not runsed it then becomes like black. (the water is not black but the patina that form on top makes it look like this)

True is that is all natural and I did not put any insecticide or poisons, I also noticed mites collected in that water, which Is why I had started to rinse out the saucer every once in a while. The pot was actually suposed not to have the saucer anymore for this reason, but for some reason my husband had put it back in and watered the pot, so there was some collected water in there.

There is no comparison with the clean toilet water in a clean toilet, and that water from that pot on my balcony, there insects like flies and such could depost all kind of bacteria overnight.

I am glad that the fever was low but I could tell the cat has a fever because his breathing was fast and his skin around his eyes was red, and his behaviour like slighy trembling his head and his eyes looking like he is sick.

Kitty is doing ok. We had him seen by a vet and they said he should be fine. They gave us clavamox, 0.1ml to give twice a day for 6 days. He was doing great during the day playing and such. He still shows less appetite though he eats and I encourage him to eat. I give him kitten formula so he gets fluids. He still looked a little 'red eyed' and with this trembling his head also almost like if he had a hiccup (but he didn't) in the evening, but his temperature yesterday night was 101.4 or so.

Thanks everyone for your precious support and suggestion.
