My 5-6 year old female cat Chocolate weighs about 13-14 pounds. She is a little overweight, but its hard to tell. She is part Ragdoll, and those cats are heavier than the average cat. It is also hard to tell cause she has a flap from being spayed. But she still has a waist, and seeing her above the stomach isnt very round. I recently put her on a diet and play with her more often, and she seems to be skinnier. So again, how much should she weigh? I might take her to the vet soon, so I will know how obese she is.

Determining ideal weight on a cat has so many variations, as each cat is different. It can't be said  for sure without an exam. Normally you determine by feeling her body. You should be able to feel her ribs but not see them, and she should have a visible waistline. From your picture, your kitty does not look to be very overweight. There is a defined waistline from the side view, the top view, maybe could be more defined. Here is a link from one of our members that shows better what I mean. http://www.thecatsite.com/t/213862/ideal-weight-for-cat. But to get a true answer, you need to speak to your vet.

You need to be careful putting her on a diet. What was she eating before and what are you feeding her now? How much and how often? Often just increased activity is enough.
