hi everyone ..

we have had jingles since he was 9 weeks .. he's 10 months now and iv'e finally plucked up the courage to take him  to be neutered.. he will be in at 10.20am and the vet sait it should only take about one hour and a half to 2 hours..

this is the 1st cat iv'e owned and i adore him ..

can i ask a few questions please ??

what will he be like after the surgery ?

i've read i have to get clumping cat litter .. is this right ?

iv'e read he should'nt jump up any where and i should pick him up to the place he wants to go..

any advice anyone please what to expect ??

i know he will need some TLC (poor lil man ) x

I actually watched when my two male cats were neutered at 6 months old. Much less invasive to neuter males than spay females, and the recovery is that much easier for the boys.

The surgery itself takes only minutes. The longer time is to ensure they recover and come fully awake after the anesthesia.

Good luck trying to keep Jingles quiet and to refrain from jumping. He's a teenage cat and full of vim and vigor. The incision is so small that there won't be any stitches he might pull with vigorous activity.

He may be a little unsteady on his feet when you get him home - aftereffect of the anesthesia. But I'm sure your vet will give you answers to any questions you might have. After all - this may be the first time you've had a cat neutered but your vet has done the surgery many times before and knows what anxious owners need to know.

It's a good thing you're having done, not just for Jingles but also for you. You'll both have a much happier life together than if you left him intact.

You won't have to change his litter. You don't have to worry about him jumping. He might be dopey from the anesthetic, or not, depending which drugs the vet uses. But other than that you probably won't see any indication that anything happened.

Good job on getting him done now! If you wait until after they start spraying it can be a real problem. . .

Yeah, boys recover so quickly
. You won't know anything happened to him by tomorrow. Maybe today!
he's alot better now
he's eaten 2 pouches of cat meat and a bowl of chicken ... the vet commented on how big he is now for 10 months as he's 3 and a half kg already
... so i think he's gonna be a big boy (bless)

My 2 boys were neutered a few weeks ago and I'd have had no idea if I didn't know a few hours later- the biggest obstacle for me was discouraging too 'rough' of play within literally hours of the surgery.  Sounds like it went well for you too and I want to echo what others have said that it is awesome you've chosen to have this done now.  You and Jingles are all set up for a long and happy life together.
