There are two kittens in our care right now, and they're exactly 42 days old, a month and nearly two weeks. Yesterday I decided to try an experiment, I put about 20 cat food pellets in a tiny aluminum ice cream bowl (2.5 inch diameter and 0.75 inches tall) and waterlogged them. I gave it to the boys, one ignored it, the other took to it immediately and began eating it. He even protested when I took it away, and bit the rim of the bowl with those teeny teeth of his. I gave him a bit of food every day after that, and today I simply let him eat the pellets while they floated in the water instead of soaking them first. He loves it.
Is this an okay way to wean the kittens? The kitten clearly has no problem whatsoever eating them, even though his brother ignores it.
