I would like to bring a new kitten to the family, I would like to know what has to be checked on her before I bring her?

I have one cat at home, and I am concern if the new one bring any transmitted disease etc.

my Cat is 9 months old, and the new one is about 2 months old I think.

Thanks,

Congratulations! 2 cats are such fun.

Is this kitten at someones home? Shelter?

You should have a separate room in which to keep her in for a bit, until you can have her checked out by a vet, and from which you can do proper introductions to your 9 month old. It should have everything she'll need. Litter box, food and water. Your new kitten should be checked by a vet as soon as you can. Vets know what to check for. Try and bring a stool sample with you so she can be checked for worms. You should have her tested for FIV/FeLV. She should also be checked for fleas. Your vet will set you up with a schedule for her shots/vaccinations.

Is your 9 month old male or female? If male, is he neutered? If not, do so soon. As female kittens can get pregnant fairly young. 4 - 5 months old is not unheard of, unless she is already spayed.

Good luck with your new baby and ask any and all questions you may have. Other members may have more ideas on what to check for.

Thanks for the response.
The 2 month old is at someones home. They live in an apartment. I asked them to bring the kitty to the vet to be checked, if all are ok then i take her, i don't want to put my cat at risk.
My cat is male and neutered last month. Does the female need to be spayed if the male is neutered?

If she is in someones home, I'm assuming she is still with the mother? If so, is it possible for her to remain with mom a bit longer? It is really best for the kittens socialization to remain with momma until they are 12 weeks old.

She will need to be spayed at about 4 months of age. Even though your male is neutered, it is healthier for her to be spayed. Here is an article that lists the benefits of spaying her http://www.thecatsite.com/a/spay-and-neuter-your-cats

The article section of this website is a great resource and can often answer any questions that may come up.

Good luck and post pictures after she arrives
