you walked 42 minutes 1 way or both ways ? I can only walk about 15 cause of my back.
Total time was 42 min. I do a lot of circling and crossing in my neighborhood due to crazy drivers on the main roads.

Nice to see you posting, Pat! :D

I still don't feel well, but have been feeling guilty about not walking, so I went for a short walk, only 1.33 miles. I really struggled with it too. :(. Maybe tomorrow I'll feel a little better. :)

In addition to the site Pam posted, the is also dailymile. You can look at maps and track where you walked and it will record the history of each of your walks, so you know how much you walk each day, week, month, etc.

I use the Walkmeter app for my IPhone. There is a different one that Aaron uses for his android. I could ask him if anyone was interested.

Would anyone be interested in a Weight Loss Motivation thread, similar to this one, here in the Lounge?

Can't edit my post, so updating the 42 min with the mileage: 2.6 mi on the nose.

Well at least you did get out and do something. I hope you're feeling better soon. I skipped yesterday too - too nauseous and a bad headache all day.

Today I did my 7km walk, enjoying the Spring warmth while it lasts. This morning I cycled for 15km too, so now I feel entitled to my chocolate biscuits without guilt. :lol3:

Glad you got outside, Karen. I really hope you start to feel better.

We do have a Weight Loss Group, but nobody really posts there....maybe if we had a thread here, more people would post? Works for me!

I'd be interested in the Android app. Please.

Great job yesterday, everyone! Keep up the good work! Hi Pat!

3.25 miles on the treadmill this morning.

Thanks. :). I'm feeling a little better, but so exhausted. I think I'm slowly getting there though. I walked around a park a little bit today until it just got way too humid, then the rain came. The weather has been so strange lately. So another non-stellar day for me.

Pam, I just texted him and he's using what you are using! :lol3: It's the MapMyWalk app.

I am an exercise addict. I took up running/ jogging just after I turned forty. It makes me feel fantastic. I'm not really a gym person so I do workouts on you tube. Jillian Michaels is my favourite. I huff and puff in front of the tv and Ruben watches me.

MapMyWalk is a good app, Karen.

Tammat, I would love to be able to jog and I did try it several years ago. But I've got some knee issues that won't go away and it's better for me to just walk.

By lunch time yesterday, it was pouring rain and very windy, and I wasn't going out for a walk in that mess. I can walk in the rain OR I can walk in the wind....I'm not doing both. I did the other 1.75 miles on the treadmill last night, so I still got my 5 miles in for the day.

This morning, I did 3.75 miles on the treadmill. (And it's raining again.
)

Oh! And my treadmill is having "issues"!!! The last three or four days, when I first put the key in and hit the speed button (I start out at 3.4 mph, so I hit the 3, then the + sign four times), it's been squeaking and carrying on, but the belt won't start. Then suddenly it will go really fast before calming down to the normal speed. I don't know if the motor is starting to die on it or what's going on, but this is not good. Once it starts moving, the belt is fine and I can walk as fast or slowly as I want. It's just til the belt kicks in. And it's only at the beginning. During my walk, I can stop the belt and put a load of laundry into the dryer, and start the belt back up....it's OK. Belt is not too tight; if any, it might be too loose again....we have to tighten it up from time to time. My poor treadmill. It's getting old, I guess.

some people prefer to go to a gym and pay to get a personal trainer, join a excerise group.

Do you prefer to set your own pace and do your excerise at home on your own ?

I, too, love Jillian Micheals and have all of her "Shred" DVD's. Before we moved, I was an exercise addict. Now, I don't put that much pressure on myself. I am back to walking/jogging/bike riding but if I miss a day I don't beat myself over it.

Glad you feeling better, Karen! Hope it continues. AND, HI PAT!!!!!! :hugs:

Took the dogs (in the stroller) and jogged about three miles this morning. It is a beautiful day here, sunny and 60's. :sun:

I have met Richard Simmons at our mall once in Heath,Ohio. I bought his book and he signed it but he was in a hurry to leave he signed it upside down ! And since we moved last August I can't find it.

Do you all walk when it's hot outside ? I'll pass cause it takes the breath out of me if I do. I'll just do some stretching  inside.with the excerising bands.

I do, and admittedly it is rough to do so. I used to run in the heat. Hope to be able to do so again, but I'll get a good walking base going first.

Is it possible that you have asthma? I didn't get diagnosed with asthma until my mid to late 30s.

I walk when it's hot outside. I walk when it's cold outside. There are very, very few days when I don't walk. When I first started walking, almost ten years ago now, Rick bought me everything he thought I would need to be outside. I always say that he didn't want me to have any excuses!
So it's a rare day that I don't walk. I'm prepared for almost anything, although I said in another post that I can walk in the rain OR I can walk in the wind....I will not do both; nothing is worse than trying to walk when trying to hold to a large umbrella and getting soaked anyway. That's when I'll hit the treadmill instead. But other than that, I'm good.

When it's really hot and humid (over 85 degrees), I'll do my main walk early in the morning and then do another short walk at night after it starts to cool down a bit. But I still walk. There were a couple of days this week that were nasty with heat and humidity; I managed to get two miles in at lunch each day.

I take my walking pretty seriously.
