So not a stellar day for me. I'm up to walking 3-3/4 miles a day, but today was only 3.3. Aaron worked from home today and we walked together. We tried a different route but ran into construction, so ended up cutting it short. I did come home and do some yard work though. All I know is I am exhausted right now. :lol3:

I don't walk far when I do maybe a mile to the post office and back. I have a bad back so walking farther than that is not an option for me.Maybe if I had a tread mill it wouldn't be a problem.

Great idea!...

I've done something to my leg.. maybe a pinched nerve?.. and it's preventing me from walking which is a real pain!  And yet I can do a few rounds of Salute to the Sun!  So my current exercise has to involve no pressure on my right foot

We need a treadmill smiley!! Unless it's there and I didn't see it. Going to the basement now....be back in three miles!

And another two miles on the treadmill last night.

A treadmill would be great for those yucky days when it's hard to get outside. I've been really consistent with my daily walks lately though. My route is 7km - 4 miles, and that feels like a good amount. I've also dusted off the exercise bike (AKA hockey gear hanger) and have been cycling for an hour most days. Yesterday I decided to walk into town to do some errands, and ended up walking for 3 hours! Phew, I really deserved the cider I had with dinner. :)

I would love to have a treadmill or bike!

I haven't done anything since Thursday. Friday was day 1 for quitting smoking and I'm still feeling the effects of it. I want to at least get that obnoxious stack of papers from school out of the house, but I'm so groggy that all I can do is hold this recliner down.

The treadmill was the best thing I ever bought for myself....and I mean that. I'm not dependent on the weather at all. It's in the basement, so it's out of the way. It's just perfect.  The only problem? I have no excuse for not walking!

Good for you for quitting!

I have an exercise bike, but I much prefer to walk. Aaron and I walked 3.8 miles this morning, then did some yard work.

Thanks! I'm still groggy and craving, but I'm hanging in there!

Got an oil treatment on my hair now, took out one big bag of garbage and about to tackle those papers I was whining about. Moving about the house is about the best I can do right now.

:woo: to all of us. I walked 3.75 miles this morning with Aaron. I need to map out a 4 mile route to try. Weather is looking a bit questionable for this week.

Great idea!...

Oh no! How is it doing now? :heart2: I really feel for you as I have been having knee trouble on and off and have been told the next thing to do would be surgery.

Good for you for quitting!

Keep on hanging  in there! I've never smoked, I have asthma, but I know how difficult it is to quit. I know some of our members have had luck with the e-cigarettes.

I wish I could use nicotine replacement! Unfortunately I cannot since I have to pass a drug test for it in about a week and a half. Got a full bag of nothing but papers out though!

Swimming is a great exercise, depending on your resources! Also check out exercise bands. You can do some leg exercises without bearing weight on the bad foot.

When i went to my back therapy they gave me 3 bands which I use everyday. They are great.

3 miles on the treadmill this morning.....

Mani, I hope your foot starts to feel better. When my knee was really bad and I could hardly put any weight on it, I ended up exercising in the pool as much as I could. That really helped.

Peaches, I smoked 1-1/2 to 2 packs a day for almost 20 years before I managed to quit. Keep trying; don't give up!

And 2 miles over lunch.

WOW!!! I also was a smoker for many, many, many years but no where that much a day. More like 1/2 pack. Funny what we learn about each other. Glad you quit. I still sneak one now and again, but rarely. Times of stress are the hardest for me. I just tell myself........... "I don't smoke anymore" over and over when I have that desire. Larry too. We both quit.

I have also applied the "I don't eat that anymore" technique with bad food choices. Sometimes, though, it has failed me. :lol3:

We also bought a new treadmill. One that has an incline. Hopefully this one won't break down too soon. I love the incline because after a good run I can incline the treadmill down to 4 miles per hour and walk/climb keeping my heart rate the same. Bike riding is something I really enjoy. I have to push myself though to make it hard or it will not be beneficial for me. Before we moved, I had joined Lifetime Fitness. I loved that place and mostly used it for the classes. I loved the spinning class. I have not been able to find a gym near me that offers those wonderful classes. I really miss the yoga, pilates and spinning class. So, I am back to trying to stay motivated on my own!!! Yes, WE CAN!!!!!!! :bigthumb: :clap:
