Well a couple years ago i rescued a friend for Mr. Bud, a little black and white female and she gave him fleas real bad (even though i bathed her, treated her and took her to the vet even before bringing her home). Once I noticed him scratching and bitting and the pest crawling on him I washed him with the HERTZ FLEA SHAMPOO and he broke out in sores at the base of his tail, his neck and the bottom half of his back. Took him to the vet and they took test and said it was most likely the shampoo and the flea irritation and him scratching and cutting himself, the gave him a cortizone shot and it went away and didnt come back.

Well the female kitten grew up and was very aggresive to Mr. Bud, Hes is a very soft cat that doesnt even play too rough, My girlfriend and i decide to find her a new home and Mr. Bud seems to be happy with that..But the bumps are back now and his fur is not looking so good.

I recently bathed him with an all natural cat shampoo made from tea trea oils and what not, his coat looks better but now there is eraser size bumps on his neck and his other bumps have not gone away. The weather is warming and fleas are out but i dont know if i should clear up the bumps first. the two on his neck have gone away but they looked exatly like the others just bigger.

Any advice? Ive been combing him like crazy so he wont scratch so much and his coat is getting better.

Maybe his food? I feed him dry because wet food come right out the other end like ice cream...

Any good Brands?

Stress? I know the space were in is kinda small but we play and i pet him almost too often i feel.

He wants to go outside but the last time we tried that he got lost chasing something and i found him two blocks over

There could be a whole host of things causing the bumps on his skin. While they could be stress related from the loss of his buddy you really need to rule out that there is nothing medical going on before you address the behavioral/lifestyle avenue.

I would set up an appointment with your vet as soon as possible. Make a list of what has been going on with him (the general life changes as well as changes in his skin/coat) and take a stool sample just to be on the safe side. And, take pictures of his bumps just in case they clear up before then so you have something to show the vet.

If they rule out all medical issues then you can begin to address the other aspects. One of the first would be food. If you haven't already I would highly recommend getting him on a grain free formula as most cats with food allergies are allergic to grain. This is better for him all around so you may want to start the switch now. Just be sure you do it slow.

If you believe stress to be an issue a Feliway Diffuser can help tremendously. It emits a pheromone that is very calming to cats. In the meantime, continue to give him good play sessions and lots of love and attention like you have been.

But, doing these things will not replace a visit to the vet. He could have fleas again, an allergy to the shampoo, a nutritional deficiency, or even something like Ringworm. You really want to make sure he is otherwise healthy before exploring the other options. Otherwise, everything you do will be for nothing.

Please keep us posted on what the vet said. Once you have a better idea of if it's medical or behavioral we can help you brainstorm more solutions. Good Luck!

I agree with EB24.  He need to see a vet.  You need to rule out medical causes before dealing with any behavioral/stress.

Cats are independent creatures; sometimes they Just Want to Be Left Alone.  I let Ritz initiate when she wants to be petted:  rolling onto her back is her signal to me she wants her belly rubbed.

You mentioned almost in passing that wet food "comes right out the other end like ice cream":  does that mean diarrhea?  Does he have that reaction to all wet food--what kind were you feeding him?  Diarrhea could be from a food allergy or parasite/worm.

For wet food--especially if trying to determine if an allergy--chose one with limited ingredients, high protein, little additives, chemicals, coloring.  EVO, Wellness and B.G. are good ones to try.  For a *short duration only* you can try boiled chicken + (cooked) rice or plain baby food.  Check labels carefully, baby food often has added spices and stabilizer, like cornstarch.  You want the kind that has meat and water only.

I might. Unless you are seeing actual fleas I would probably just let it be and wait until after his evaluation. Since you don't know what is causing his problems you don't want to add any new things to the mix.

That said, where I live we really don't have fleas so I have zero experience with it. If it's something you do regularly then maybe you should keep him on schedule. If you can I would probably call your vet friend and see what her thoughts are.

Glad you are going to have him seen. Keep us posted!
