My fiance picked up a female feral that she dropped off at the humane society for spaying. I've just noticed on the paperwork that she is moderately lactating. The humane society is now closed. Does this mean she has a litter out there? I don't know what to do. I don't want them to die if they are out there.

the most probable is she had recently a litter.  Either on good way to be weaned now, or she lost them recently by any reasons.  The remark "moderately" was probably to tell it is probably no fresh litter so to speak, they arent actively nursing.

Yeah, if you know where your fiance found her, it may be a good idea to go and search around there.

If there are some loose semi-grown kittens.

You perhaps wont find anything, but you will have clean conscience: you did what you could.

Tx for caring!

Good luck!

Thank you for responding. I will be letting her go today. I know her incision is small but I still don't want to let her go just yet. However, her being in a crate makes me feel very bad for her. No maneuverability. She's a sweetheart.
