Ok here we go! 2 years ago my girlfriend and I traveled to a small town to where my band was playing a benifit show for a man who was trying to raise money to move closer to a hospital suitable for his daughters respitory problem. Little did we know we were about to adopt in this amazing middle aged, super talkative orange tabby man kitty named Simon but we did. The show went good, money was raised and right before we're leaving the people asked us if we would take this handsome orange cat. Ugh i replied really? We drove over 200 miles with no pay for the band and then you ask me to take and house a cat?finally we said yes. Im not a guy who lets people in my emotional bubble and a animal was the last thing i wanted. Its crazy to say this but this guy has become my best friend and over the past two years he has become such a major part of the family I just can't even explain how lucky I am to have owned him! Well recently he got a gum infection. We noticed it from his bad breath, swollen gums and lack of eating for a day or two. We took him to the vet and he was prescribed clavamox and we have been giving it to him for five days now and have two days left but he stumbles when he walks now and won't eat. I have been feeding him through a syringe and honestly seems to like it but absolutely will not eat on his own food.He just stares off in the distance like he's sad. Swelling is almost all the way gone but he stumbles like he's weak. I have read on the forums that clavamox can cause loss of appetite which may lead to weakness? We did a human home test for glucose readings and we got 86 so doesn't look diabetic and we tested urine for keystone and said none present. I have felt all around his belly and feel no tumors. He still drinks his water but can't hardly make it to the bowl. My question is will clavamox really curb a cats eating to the point of him getting weak? He seems plenty alert just sad and weak. No loss of hair, no cries of pain, no odd behavior other than sad and weak. Please help with some info even if it just a little something.
The reason I tell you guys the story of how we got him was I thought it was a little ironic and of all people I never thought I would be the guy crazy about a cat. But I am! He's the guy who tells me from the top of the stairs when I need to go to bed, the guy who is right there first thing in the morning letting me know that he's more important than my first cup of coffee, the guy who walks on my laptop and says its my time and the guy who makes me scoot over in bed for him every night. He my mello yellow. I can't loose him right now. How did this happen from a mouth infection? Please please help!

Sorry your mello yellow is feeling poorly.

Did the vet indicate how/why he got a mouth infection.  Did the vet do any kind of blood work?

Clavanix may cause decrease in appetite, but not so much that the cat will have weakness in his legs and stumble.  I'm concerned--as you are--that something else is going on.  He also may still be in pain, which would be why he looks sad.  He may need a stronger antibiotic.

Vet time.  Sooner rather than later.

I agree with Ritz. At least call the vet and describe the symptoms. I don't think this is just a reaction to Clavamox. I do fear there's something else going on here. His not eating is probably from both the Clavamox and the pain in his mouth (surprised the vet didn't give any pain meds), but since you're syringe-feeding him, he should not be that weak and stumbling.
