My dentist says the teeth whitening strips does a good of a job than the actual procedure.

So, I selected the Crest 2 Hour express and tried it last night. It worked a little.. but my teeth are so sensitive! OUCH!!!

Have you tried these strips? Which ones? Was it worth it?

I asked my dentist about making an appointment to whiten my teeth. He told me to not waste my money, and to buy the over the counter strips which do the same job as a dentist will do.

If you have sensitive teeth, switch to a toothpaste like Sensodyne.

I use the Crest White Strips, and I regularly brush my teeth with Sensodyne and don't have any issues with tooth sensitivity.

I have also tried in the past the Crest Whitening strips. Probably the original ones. My teeth did get very sensitive during the process too. They did work quite well though. My daughter also used them awhile back and I couldn't believe the difference it made. I noticed it right away when she smiled. I think you will be happy with the result! :)

I have never used whiting strips before. I have a top denture and don't need them for the bottom. I was wondering why they only show people on TV putting the strip on the top teeth ? Aren't they made for the bottom too ?

They do make them for bottom teeth. Most people don't show bottom teeth when smiling.. top's more important in that aspect.

I've been whitening my teeth long before there were home whitening kits.  I would mix a weak solution of water and Javex and Q-tips.

Much better with the whitening strips though :)

I'm scared to try. . .my teeth are so sensitive plus the enamel is weak. . .maybe I'll ask the dentist. My 2-year molars actually grew in without any enamel . I had to have crowns that lasted until those teeth fell out naturally. Metal crowns taste funny when they're loose. . .:tongue2:

I talked to the girl who cleans my teeth and the dentist yesterday when I went to have my teeth cleaned. They both told me the Crest strips don't do that good a job. The dentist told me I have a filling behind my front teeth that might have to be replaced if I get the bleaching tray and bleach my teeth. Ugh.

Well, I don't go to the dentist unless i hurt and for my  check ups. I try to stay away from them.
Good luck with that filling.I hate when he has to work on the front top/bottom teeth.

I recently asked some questions about this too. The link is here. http://www.thecatsite.com/t/257026/question-about-drugstore-tooth-whiteners. I am concerned as to if they damage the enamel on your teeth and I have never used them. I just can't get my nerve up. Several have mentioned sensitivity and I wonder if that happens when the dentist whitens them.
I'm with you on this one. My teeth are so sensitive that I'm just not prepared to risk it.  I use the the Colgate sensitive (even though every other product I use is more 'natural' I've had to revert to this to keep the sensitivity down) and there's a whitening one.  That's as far as I go.

Well, I bit the bullet today and went to the dentist to have the impressions done for the bleaching trays. I pick them up tomorrow along with the tube with the bleaching stuff in it. Then I will get some details as to how to do it. Everyone keep fingers crossed for my white teeth.

Started with my bleaching process yesterday. I left the trays in my mouth three and a half hours. I can't believe I could actually see that my teeth were lighter after that. He told me start with three to four hours, then maybe all night. But I have talked to some people who said leaving the trays in at night caused them to start grinding their teeth. Anyone else heard of this.

No I haven't heard of that but long ago my husband grinded his teeth in his sleep which drove me nuts so I had to sleep on the couch.
