Our girl George was hit by a car and dragged herself home on the day my new cat book went to press!  With a fractured hip (separated from the pelvis by a good distance), the vet said she would have a “better than 50-50 chance” if kept in a dog crate for a month.  We are seniors on a fixed income (basically Social Security) and cannot afford $3000 or more for surgery.  She is now about halfway through and we think doing OK.  Send her your thoughts towards a good recovery, please…

I am sorry this happened to your cat. Good luck with the healing process.

Sending some healing vibes

Maybe your new book will be such a success that if George ends up needed surgery, you'll be able to afford it after all

But seriously, the Vet thought just keeping her quiet and "still" for about a month might be enough to let the fracture heal without any surgery to where she will be ok?  If I'm interpreting correctly, that's great!  How old is she?  I'm guessing she might need to be on Cosequin or something, though, (like Glucosimine/Condroitin for us humans) since that hip may be a little stiff from here on out.  You can get it on the internet for fairly inexpensive.  Actually, I was just reading that Greenlip Mussel Oil is supposed to be really good for arthritis in cats, which I'm suspecting might just set in

This exact thing happened to my folks cat this past week. He was missing for one week and returned with a broken hip/pelvis. We're not sure what is next, but we're seeing an othro doctor tomorrow for his opinion. He's only 7 and we don't want him to go to the rainbow bridge for many more years.  He's in so much pain. Staying at the vet until tomorrow (went in yesterday for xrays and they wanted to keep him).

I pray for your kitty.....
