I was mentioning in Pam's thread (I think it was hers :lol3:) about mowing lawns and how we were able to sell our mower before we moved because we have absolutely no grass on our 1/2 acre lot. It is filled with beautiful hemlock's, flowering shrubs, wild flowers, ground covers, and all sorts of wild plants that I can't even begin to name. Friends have been asking for pictures. And, I think I have my answer as to what is causing my seasonal allergies this year. :lol3:

Since taking these pictures though, more is blooming. :lol3: So I will have to add the fully bloomed photos at a later time to compare.

We love this house and this was only one of the things that captured our hearts when we first saw the home. I will get the inside pictures up soon too after we get the hardwood done in a couple of weeks time.

We have a few bird feeders outside too now. Adding another for Mother's Day. :heart3: The kitties LOVE to watch all of our visitors throughout the day. Very fun pastime for them.

p.s. If you click on the first photo, you can view the photos in the larger size and scroll through. An option on the site I did not know was available. HEE HEE. :lol3:

I collect cat stone garden figurines! :rub:

Me and my boys, Wilbur (right) and Henry (left) on Mother's Day. :heart3: :heart2:

I'd love to have a yard like that, Lauren! What wonderful pictures! I can see why you got rid of your lawnmower!

I love how your patio is so private; I can see you having your morning coffee out there once summer comes. And what a neat place to sit with a glass of wine after a busy day at work. We have a couple cat figurines, too, as well as a couple of paw-print stepping stones in the garden in our back yard.

And that's a beautiful picture of you with Wilbur and Henry!

Thanks so much for sharing your yard!!

Thank you all for your lovely comments!! We are really enjoying the patio. We eat dinner out there every evening as well. I guess it is like a little forest :lol3:. Both neighbor's yards on each side have no grass either. It does make it very private which we love. Funny though, I miss mowing the lawn!!!! I always did the lawn mowing and I thought it was great exercise too. Still, I much prefer the "little forest" we live on now. :)

Very nice, Lauren! I love your patio. Do you get all kinds of weeds in between the ground cover or is it thick enough to keep the weeds out?

So far the ground cover is keeping them at bay. Since it is our first Spring/Summer here it will be interesting to see what comes up. I HATE weeding. :lol3: Larry always did that at the other house, I did the mowing. My way of getting out of the weeding part. :lol3: There is already more blooming since taking the photos. We do get some weeds coming up around the patio stones but have a little tool for that problem. So far not too many popping up between them. There are actually three stone courtyards around this house. One is off of the laundry room out back. That is where I let the dogs out and am planning on making it a safe outdoor enclosure for the cats someday. I didn't add a picture of that courtyard but will when I update the "little forest" pictures in full bloom. We had to pull out a lot of ground cover and some plants to add in pea gravel for the dogs to go on. The plants are already pushing their way through the pea gravel areas. There is a pretty hemlock tree in the middle of that courtyard that the dogs are happy to pee on.

I'm sure my DH would appreciate the help if you really get the urge to mow some grass!  That's the chore I hate!!  And the only weeding I do is in our little veggie garden.  We have no other flower beds or anything.  Kinda nice sometimes!

I spent three hours in just the vegetable garden weeding yesterday. I would rather mow grass too! :lol3:

:bigthumb:  ME TOO! Just tonight, Larry commented that we need to get out there and weed this weekend. :flail: I said "OH REALLY??!! And, HOW do we know which is a weed and which is going to turn into a beautiful something or another??!!" :lol3: My way of getting out of the weeding chore. :D :D :D
