I gave mittens her first booster shot at 8 weeks then the second at 14 weeks. I am getting her rabies tomorrow but was wondering if I should get her the 3rd booster shot at 18 weeks? Is 2 good or get the 3rd one?

Vaccines for kittens?

It's not so much about the number of vaccines she gets, it's more about what age she is when she gets the last one. 14 weeks should be OK for her to have developed long-lasting immunity, although some people think 16 weeks is better. Up to you, and her risk factors for exposure.

Ok thanks! Well she is an indoor kitten. I also read somewhere that giving them too many shots can kill them. How many shots did u give ur kitten/s?

Our breeder and I have read elsewhere on catinfo.org that you should really only do one vaccine at a time and I will be doing that with my kitten.

What do u mean? Don't we have to so that? Isn't 1 shot then 4 weeks later another one?
Most people do want the kitten to have the "three" sets of kitten shots (four weeks apart) but 14 weeks is on the end of that curve. Meaning the kitten is older now. Usually they get the vaccines at eight weeks, twelve weeks and then sixteen weeks. If it were me I would not do another vaccine. I would repeat the vaccine at one year of age and then maybe at age three. Then they are good for life, IMO.
It is always best to separate out different vaccinations even though most vets don't do vaccines that way.
I think there is much vet's don't really fess up to us about the overuse of vaccinating our pets. I have lived and learned the hard way on that one. Best to give rabies all by itself with no other vaccinations. That way the kitten's immune system doesn't have to work in overdrive. You can then again give the rabies at one year to 18 months of age then they are good for life, IMO.

As I said one shot at a time, so my kitten got her kitten series first which was one shot at 8 and 12 weeks and is going in for her rabbies at 16 weeks. She will then get a booster at one year. Some vets will do rabbies and a bunch of other vaccines at once, and that is what I would advise against.

The type of vaccine we are using just needs two shots according to the vet and then another at one year old.
