He isn't old, he's only about a year or two old.

Basically the other day, my cat got out in the morning, around 10:00AM and we couldn't find him for probably 20 minutes or so.
We found his butt and brought him back inside.

Next thing you know he's hiding from everyone, and has a limp on his right front arm.
The limp has disappeared a little, but he has a "wound" on his back thigh, and we assume its another animal bite. Every time we try touching around the wounded area he tends to meow and get angry with us.

We cannot really see a wound like bite marks, or claw marks.
We found some fur in his claws after he came back, and we assume it's Racoon Fur.

We can only assume at this point, but tomorrow morning were bringing him to the vet for sure to see whats wrong.

Also a second question if no one can really guess whats wrong with him, but...
If he got a rabies vaccination about a year or two ago, can he still become infected with rabies?
And if he is infected, is there any treatment. He was only injured yesterday...

Thanks

Hopefully by the time you read this you will have been to the vet and have your answers.. poor little guy had a nasty experience out there and you're doing exactly the right thing.

We don't have rabies (I'm in Australia) but I'm guessing that since the vacs are every 3 years over there (are you in the US?) then he'd be covered.

Welcome to TCS, buy the way, and please do let us know how he's going..

For some reason the limping is gone and he's acting normal again. Perhaps he just hurt himself outside.

Glad to hear that the limping is gone. I would still bring your kitty to the vet anyway. Definitely was injured or bitten by something and if the wound is not treated it can abscess. I wouldn't take any chances. Sometimes you cannot even see the wound due to the cat's hair. It may be nothing serious but still, if it were me, I would take my cat to be checked. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

yes make sure you take him to the vet anyway even if he seems fine. Animals have all kinds of nasty things in their mouths, and if he got bit, then it WILL get infected eventually, then you have a much bigger problem.

we recently moved house, the journey was long 2 days. In our new house my cat hides all day in the study upstairs, is not eating very well, and because I want to get him used to the house I have not let him outside yet. We arrived 4 days ago. He does miaw at night so is obviously not sleeping well then. Please advise

Cats do not like change, and obviously this has been a huge change for him.  It's good you are not letting him outside yet, but after 4 days I'm a little concerned that he is still so withdrawn and his appetite isn't back.  I would think he should be checked by a Vet just to make sure nothing else is going on with him.  Stress can do all kinds of things, including causing UTIs, etc.  And loss of appetite can lead to much worse things
