My grandkittens are a little over two weeks old crying for milk. My mother cat refuses to come to the calls of the six kittens. My husband suggested putting all of the Cats in a pet taxi which seems to work but I hate locking them in there. How can I lock them in there with how adorable they are? This is litter number 2. So I know she is capable of taking care of them. I feel like there is something I can do.

I suspect it is time to give them some extra with a bottle. As long momma gives them some, you dont need to do it around the clock. Just as the top part.   If you can get hold on goat milk, use it, otherwise find a good kmr.

Not cow milk, and some forumites warn against Hartz kmr... So avoid these two.

Giving them bottle, they shall lie on tummy, head up. Looks awkward, but it is the same postion they do have with mom...

Do you weigh them?  It is otherwise the best way to know if they do get enough with milk, or too little...

Pet taxi, it is this  box where you leave unwished kittens to a shelter?   I do really hope there are better solutions... I mean, it is one thing if you found an abandoned litter or where the mom got killed, but you yourself dont have the time nor possibility to help them.  And entirely another case where you youself full willingly did caused the litter to be born...   So I do agree with you wholeheartly, you shall take the responsibility here.  Which you do, otherwise you wouldnt be at this here forum.    smile.

And please spay the mom when the kittens are weaned. It is typically done when they are 8w plus.

Good luck!

I planned spaying my momma cat after weaning. And the pet taxi is that travel cage...I have soy milk nothing else until we get payed. I'll get more recent pictures. They look healthy but I worry.

Some cats can't tolerate soy milk. You can feed them goat's milk, if you can figure out how to get some.

Locking them in the pet taxi is better than letting them go hungry. They need to feed quite frequently at their age.

Yeah, closing her in a small space with them is probably best. You don't have to do it all the time---maybe 5-6 times a day so the babies can nurse. You don't want to supplement if you can avoid it, as there's always the risk of aspiration and no formula is as good as mother's milk. In a couple weeks they'll be old enough to start on solids, so this won't have to go on for too long. If she flat-out refuses to feed them at all, you'll have to bottle-feed, but leave it as a last resort. Is she allowed outside?
