Simone is 14,5 years old.  For the past month I have been struggling to feed her.   She would enjoy the wet food biscuits - Iams Mature.  And because she has IBD, I would feed her some Hills AD mixed with Laxolon (lactulose) to help her bowels.  And then 1/2 a Prednisolone every second day.  This I've now upped to 1 every second day.  Because of her constipation, I've also had to give her liquid paraffin once a week.

But she won't eat her soft foods.  The dry food she's eating is Eukanuba Intestinal but not much.  What she will do is have a little chicken (hand fed) off my plate, and a little 'lamburger' when I make burgers.

I have told you guys before that my partner has cancer.  Because of her deterioration there is a nurse during the day.  I don't know if this is the reason that her eating habits have changed. And/or if it's coupled with the fact of my partner's condition.  Or just a sign of her ageing.  Or is it that she's gone off her food and I need to find something different to feed her? I need some guidance please

I'm sorry you're going through this.  And I'm sorry your cat is too.

I do think she is off her food in part because she knows your partner is feeling poorly, and because there is someone new in the household.  It could also be because of her age.  At this time, I'd feed her what ever she will eat.  If you can find canned food made of lamb, see if she will eat that.  If medically appropriate, I'd also let the cat be with your partner as much as possible.  To comfort one another.

Thanks for the message of support and advice.  It may well have been the nurse who I had to dismiss last week because she wasn't treating my partner well.  Simone seemed to have perked up when I told her too.  I have a new nurse who tells me she loves cats so it's a wait and see game.  Simone ate slightly better over the weekend.  I will see if I can find tinned lamb.
