Hi
I've been starting to give my kitten dry food as well as wet, asked around, and received recommendations for purina pro plan and natural choice.

Between these two, which is considered better?
It should be noted that a large part of the food my kitten would be getting is wet, around 60% of it if I need to put a number on it.
Either way, I'll need to feed her dry as well, so i'm searching for a good option

Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks

I assume you would be using the kitten food, so this (http://www.nutro.com/natural-cat-fo...ssentials-kitten-food-chicken-brown-rice.aspx) or this (http://www.proplan.com/dry-cat-food/kitten-chicken-rice-formula/)? Out of the ingredients list I would for sure go with natural choice as purina has corn as the third ingredient and had a lot of grains and by-products. Nutro did recently have a recall and I am not sure if this food was involved so make sure you do not buy a bag that is part of the recall.

I would also look into grain free options like orijen, wysong or blue wilderness they are much better choices. You can also buy ziwipeak freeze dried raw and use it as kibble.

I'll look for wysong and orijen, already asked about blue wilderness around- we simply don't have it (i don't live in the U.S)

If i don't find something good and grain-free for a reasonable price (choosing to give as much wet food as possible dries up my budget fairly fast) i'll go with natural choice. The localized sticker had the ingredients written down all wrong and messed up, now i see how it's supposed to look, and it looks pretty good.

As for wet, how is Science diet for kittens? (to be specific- liver and chicken entree) that's what i'm giving mainly, at the moment

Here is a list of some of the best dry food (http://www.naturalcatcareblog.com/2011/08/best-dry-cat-foods-so-far/) and wet food (http://www.naturalcatcareblog.com/2010/12/the-7-best-natural-commercial-cat-foods-so-far/). Science diet would not be by top choice because of additives and grains but if that is what you can get it should be fine. Many people say the worst quality canned food is better than feeding all dry. Some people find it is cheaper to do a homemade raw diet compared to canned and check out catinfo.org- I can't remember if I suggested that to you before. It may not be feasible for you so just feed as much canned as you can and maybe give him some raw meat as a treat sometime or even cooked meat leftovers as long as it is just meat- it is very healthy for a cat to eat as much meat as possible.

Actually I'm from israel, so the choice is more limited compared to the u.s or australia
She was on a brand called chikopee before, which turned out to be bad and give her the runs.
I moved to purina pro plan, got a 350g sample from the vet, and everything suddenly went right
I went to the nearby store to find out how much it costs, and the guy over there offered me natural choice, saying it's about the same or even better for less money.
I'll go back there soon and see their entire offering to pick the best within my budget limit
