I lost my 5-year-old Little Girl 3 weeks ago today. She died on the table after having an abscess drained. It was a terrible shock for me. I had lost my beloved German Shepherd Dog 3 months before. Her death was a bizarre occurrence. She must have had an underlying heart condition. I miss her terribly.

Little Girl and three siblings were rescued at birth by my daughter and she bottle fed them until they were old enough to be adopted out. I took 2 and my daughter took 2. These 2 cats of mine were the most unusual cats I have ever had - maybe because they didn't know their cat mother. I named her Little Girl because she was small from the start and even at 5 years of age, she was small - about the size of a 1-year-old. She had little feet. Her fur was exceptionally soft. She did strange but funny things. She would come to me first thing in the morning when I was having my coffee. She acted as if she were on coffee herself as she would purr and push and roll, climb on me nonstop. She was really "in my face" and this went on for about 15 minutes or so until I would put up both my hands in front of her, flat palms facing her, and say "LIE DOWN". She would lie down and then she would fall into a deep sleep! Out cold! This would happen every morning. And she would lie down every time I told her to! Also, she had a furry toy that was smelly, crunchy, and falling apart big time. She would leave my lap and go all the way downstairs, find "baby" and bring it up to me making little moaning sounds as she came up the stairs. She had a heated pad in her bed. She would sleep under it on her back with all four legs sticking out like an upside-down turtle! There was something about Little Girl that really touched my heart. I have had probably 12+ cats in my 65 years and she stands out in my mind because she was so unusual. I would hold her like a baby and press my thumb into her little paw pads. Her feet were almost stubby. And she had the softest fur of any cat I have ever known. She was a tiger cat with a tiny white bib.

So, now, I console her brother, Herbie T.L. Bugg. He is very strange but I won't get into that!

I miss Little Girl so much. Most days I am fine but then something will set me off and torrents of tears will fall. I still can't believe that she has left. She is gone. The vet made a cast of her little feet and I got her ashes back - ashes I will keep until I leave this earth at which time our (she and the ashes of some of my other beloved cats and 1 dog will be scattered in the sunny, flowered field high up on the hill.....

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Little Girl sounds like my Jack, because he carries toys in his mouth and cries as well. It's special things like that which will make you smile but be bittersweet at the same time

My condolences - it's always tough to lose a beloved pet, but seems particularly cruel when such a young one passes.

RIP, Little Girl.

I'm so sorry for you, it's so hard to lose one so special. It takes a lot of time to lessen the pain, but you hurt so much because you loved so much. I'll be thinking of you, and crying too, to share your pain. She will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge. RIP beautiful Little Girl!

what a beautiful, beautiful tribute you wrote for Little Girl, such wonderful habits she had. lol.  So so young to leave here at 5 yrs.old.  (I understand, I too lost a cat her age a few months ago, it makes no sense.)  Please keep  Herbie the love bug strong with your attention and kisses and love, as he too is grieving the loss of his sister.

Sympathies and prayers to your loss of both canine German Shepard friend, as well as your feline Girl (soft fured angel), you will see them all again

I'm so sorry for your loss of your precious Little Girl . She was very special, that is obvious. I love how she would sleep under her bed. Your memorial brought me to tears. I hope you and Herbie T.L. Bugg can find comfort in one another as you work through your grief and loss. :rbheart:

Thank you for your most comforting words. I am so sorry you lost your precious kitty. The picture looks like my Turkish Angora named Tina who lived to be about 15 years old. Herbie T.L.B. is getting a lot of extra attention. Just now, I heard him meowing in the other room. He had his "red toy" in his mouth, something he rarely did when his sister was alive. I think he is taking over for her. They used to cram themselves together into one of their beds to sleep. It was such a funny site - he is so large and she, so small! Anyway, I have part of his sister in him and I will cherish that.
