Hi friends,
My name is marsha. I stumbled onto this forum after searching for an answer.
In my younger years I was a cat person. I've had dogs the last twenty years. After I lost my last German Shepherd I decided to stick to cats. My ten-year-old cat is Karl. He's a beautiful black tabby, and he is mellow and well-behaved. He had what I'd call a "detent" with the dog. The dog usually chased the cat. They never snuggled or anything like that, but I wasn't afraid to leave them alone together at all. In fact, the cat was more likely to hurt my dog.
I recently got a kitten. I was afraid Karl would be lonely. At this point I regret getting this kitten, but I will adapt. I don't throw away animals, and I've gone through a lot with sick animals as well.
My new cat is Pandora. She is mostly black with a little bit of white. She has white feet and a white tuxedo. This cat isn't just energetic. She is very aggressive. She doesn't pay much attention to my teachings. I'm afraid I'm just scaring her by yelling when she gets into things. How else will she know what is wrong if I don't yell or make noise? Otherwise i'm a quiet person.
Pandora is relentless and will not leave Karl alone. Today I saw him dragging her on his back--not by his choice--while he tried to walk away. She gets into EVERYTHING, and she chews paper, wood, fabric, tissue patterns, electrical cords, etc. And she finds straight pins and my seam ripper, even when they're contained.
I have covered a chair that she likes to scratch, and she finds a way to get between the cover and the chair.
Gone is my morning sleep. This morning I had a headache. She was biting a cord underneath my bed. When she wouldn't stop, I put her on the other side of my bedroom door and she scratched to get in. I have put all my sewing into containers so she doesn't accidentally ingest something, but I find containers tipped over and dumped out.
I don't remember my previous cats being this way. Yes, I'm older with less energy, but I'm basically a cat lover.
I'm concerned that she's annoying my older cat as well.
I'm a positive person so I will adapt.
I will look around here and see what is going on.
Marsha
