Hi, i was coming outta a gas station three days ago and looked across the street to see a small black ball of fur in the gutter. He was almost out in the busy street. I jumped outta my truck and ran across the street and scooped him up. He is maybe 7 or 8 weeks old,the day i found him,his eyes were still baby blue. I noticed the next day that they had turned green. He eats like crazy,he will eat as much as I put infront of him. Luckily i had kitten chow since we had just adopted a twelve week old kitten from my daughter's friend (we have a full house, two adult spayed females and now two baby males). I have been softening the kitten chow with water and limiting him to small portions. I think he may have been a feral kitten. He was very scared of me and every time I put him down he scampers away. He doesent purr at all. I am wondering if there is anything that i can do to help him get more comfortable with being around people. I can't let him go inside the house cause he would run and hide from us,id never find him. Ive been keeping him in a bathroom or in a pet carrier, hes not very happy in there but i dont know what else to do. Thanks in advance for any advice:)

Well done!  Black with green eyes!!! We want pics!

Good you do have him for himself, a little isolated.  You dont want to risk to bring any contagion to the others.  As homeless he has surely both this and that...  So a vet check up is recommended, deparasiting and deworming necessary.  You can find good dewormers on your own if you know what to seek (some otc arent good), but easiest you ask the vet when you are there.

Dont rush, let him land and adapt, he will come around with time.

Let others fill in, otherwise I will write more tomorrow.

Tx for helping this guy!

 Good luck!

Yes, keep him isolated from the others until he sees the vet. The bathroom is ideal. He needs his own potty, bed and food. Is there any way you can get him wet kitten food?

If you go into the bathroom and sit and read out loud to him, he will soon come around. The sound of your gentle voice will reassure him. He's just a baby who's had a big change in his life. Thanks for helping him!

SO wonderful of you to save this little guy. :heart3: Absolutely, keep him confined. He must completely trust you and feel safe with you before you can ever let him out to roam in the house. If it is done too soon, you are right, he will hide for sure. Make sure to take both kittens to the vet. It may be a good idea to keep the friendly kitten in the bathroom with the scared kitten. Will help bring him out of his shell. Spend much time in the bathroom with the kittens. Even if you just go in there to work on the computer, read, etc. The more time the better. The kittens will need vaccinations, de-wormings, etc. Best to get started on that right now. They most likely have worms and will need two treatments two to three weeks apart. Then you have to wait two weeks and have the stools checked to make sure they are clean before you allow your adult cats to share litter boxes. I will add a link to an article that will help you bring along your little feral kitten. What a lucky kitty that you spotted him that day. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Thanks so much for the great advice! Guess what! Our little black kitty has started purring!!! Im so excited! He is also using a tiny little litter box I just bought for him. he is doing so well. hopefully it wont be too long before he can come outta the bathroom. now he will purr when I stroke his head but he does still run when we bring him out of the bathroom. He hides too. So, will still be a little while but at least now I can see it happening.

If you have other pets, please have him checked by a vet before he meets them. He may have fleas, worms or other Ickies you don't want spreading around. Glad he's getting used to you.
