My daughter had kittens and cats growing up and since she moved to California after graduating from high school in 2007 she chose to give me a stray kitten that had made it's way into her father and stepmother's yard and was being cared for. I call him Lucky because he was 4 months old when I got him on Jan. 18th, Ann the stepmother drove him down from the mountains which was a 4 1/2 hour drive, after she had him neutered. Since day one he's been having problems with a lot of foul smelling gas and either extremely constipated or very liquid diarrhea. He's been through 4 weeks of alban and 14 days of a strong antibiotic along with 2 different wet bland food and still had diarrhea. I had signed him up for a year of wellness visits at Banfeld so all of the vet visits fell into that plan. Being disabled I wouldn't be able to keep him much longer. The vet he sees figured it's food allergies and put him on a venison and green pea diet. Lucky didn't like venison so I exchanged it for the rabbit and green pea diet. My sister called to tell me that even though the dry food had been opened I could still take it back to Petsmart. It was 61.00 and some change and I was shocked. I have searched the web for 2 days trying to find a less expensive dry food made with green peas and found that Pet Supplies Plus carries salmon and green pea dry food and it's good for kittens and adult cats.) Lucky loves fish so it's a win/win. Had I not been disabled and plenty of time to research the web for a dry food that I could afford I never would have found the salmon and green pea dry food. You can order it cheaper online with free shipping. Petsmart does not have a salmon and green pea diet and I didn't want to chance him being allergic to brown rice. My sister said there's a change he could be allergic to grain and poultry as he ate his first dental chew stick, chicken flavored, but used them to play fetch with after that. This is a very long email because I hope the email can save others from a lot of visits to the vet and on medicine. I wouldn't have been able to keep Lucky had I not found t salmon and green pea dry food and it was breaking my heart that I'd have to give him up. So if your kitten or cat has chronic diarrhea I'd try him or her on the salmon & green pea diet food as it's good for kittens through senior cats. Forgive the long email but I learned to document in details as an ICU nurse and even though I've been disabled for 13 years I still email and write detailed long letters. I just hope this will save owners and kittens with the same problems that Lucky has had since I received him as a 4 month old on Jan. 18, 2013. Thanks for listening, BJ
