Well it may be Autumn here, but it's cooler in the garden which makes working there a lot easier.

And over in the 'other hemisphere' where most of you live, it's Springtime!

So I'd like to know,

How does your garden grow?

Do you like (or how would you like, if a garden is not an option for you)

a natural, cottage or something else kind of garden?

Nice picture, Mani....I love to see more of your garden!!

The gargoyle's name is Rupert.
Part of the back yard...the fence surrounds the pool. There's an arbor with gates leading to the pool area. We have clematis planted around the arbor and when the clematis blooms, it's really pretty.

Some lavender, penstomen, and Shasta daisies....

Achillea (sorry about the spelling)

The weigela bushes...they're planted around that area of the fence....on the other side of the fence here is the deck. As you come down the deck, you can go into the pool or through the arbor into the back yard.

And, of course, the vegetable garden!

I live in an apartment complex.. I wish I was able to garden!

But I just have a pot of pothos that my nieces gave me for easter a few years ago (tucked in my glass curio, away from the cats) and a few pots of cat grass.

Winchester, I LOVE your garden!  Big and rambly with beautiful plants and a veggie patch.

You're lucky to have the space, and clever to make it work.

By "garden", do you mean what Americans call a backyard, or do you mean an actual garden-garden (growing things like flowers and veggies)?

I don't grow a garden, although I do usually throw some spring mix seeds in a damp corner of the yard so I can get fresh greens for the rabbit and tortoises. I should put a tomato plant there, too. I also usually have a couple pots of petunias or something on the steps.

My backyard is huge. Too big, really, because I hate mowing. Nearly an acre. Half is fenced in for the dogs and the other half isn't fenced at all, sort of merges with the neighbor's yard. There are a few youngish Maple trees down the middle of the unfenced section and some evergreens along the edges. One of the evergreens looks terrible. . .I'll probably have to have it taken down this year :/. There are some evergreen bushes around the perimeter of the house, with landscaping rocks under them. Also some wild roses and a lilac bush. All the landscaping was done before I bought the house; I probably would just have it totally bare :lol3:. I'm not much for yardwork.

I don't have very much room at our new apartment now so I could just dig a little in the front of the apartment and plant some flowers or just put a few potted plants on either side of the front door. And those little solar lights around my small patio.cause I'm not much for plating flowers like most of you are. They are nice pictures though.

Pam, you put me to shame! Everything looks so beautiful. I'm going to TRY again this year to do some planting and not kill anything. pretty soon Home Depot is going to post my picture and say "do not sell any plants to this plant killer". Maybe this will be the year I will be successful.

I guess I mean 'backyard' but it could also be 'frontyard' or 'sideyard'.    My little house is right up in the back corner of the block, so I don't actually have a backyard

We do use the term 'backyard' here, though.

We bought the house off of two retiring Botany professors, so our acre of land is heavily landscaped.

We've got about an acre right in town, we're trying for a 'park' look, lots of green and trees. I've got flower beds scattered everywhere, it's a challenge to find things to grow with little water. We have winters here in Nebraska that can get to minus 20F  our summers get to 115 degrees at times. I love the 'cottage' look, and informal. We've also got about 400 privit hedges that border two sides of our property. I'd love to hear of any sturdy, hardy plants, and also what to do about moles, they drive me crazy! We also have a huge vegatable garden each year.

Nice Winchester!!  Very pretty!  I live in an apartment (old house turned into 2 apts. one upstairs (me) & one downstairs. So I thought after being here for almost 15 yrs., I finally  decided to dig one

a couple of yrs ago. I just did a long narrow strip along my stair wall. These picts. are of it 2 yrs ago.( Last yr. didn't come out as well.)

I just planted for this year a couple of weeks ago, & we've had a lot of rain, so I am already seeing things sprout up!!! I'm sooo excited to see how it turns out this year! I went to the Farmer's supply store for the 1st time, & got my seed pkts. there!

This yr. I got more giant sunflowers for the tall end of the wall again. I also got snapdragons for the 1st time!  Other flowers I planted in there are purple zinnia's, marigolds, & a mixed packet.

The last time I planted a mixed pkt. I got flowers off of it through Thanksgiving!!

Here's the bunch I got from the mixed packet!!

These are the roses, I get off my rose bush up on my porch, in the corner. I love the apricot color.

Thanks Winchester & Mani!  Nice space Mani. It looks peaceful!  I am getting excited, my sunflowers have poped up, & are an inch or two tall already.
