I have been trying all the many ways of keeping my 10 month cat from attacking my other two 9yrs old
And watching the older cats act paranoid , looking around before eating as well as just quietly sitting ,they never know when the youngster is about to pounce.
So I am trying to get my ten months old to wear a collar with a little bell so the others know when he is coming. I just tried it yesterday and he either will sit down and not move, or takes a few steps and hides under the bed or sofa.
My question is if this is ( collar/bell) a good idea and if anyone has tried it, also love to hear some advise about collars.

Is it a break-away collar? If not, he could get it caught on something under the couch or somewhere you can't see him and choke to death.  I have never used a collar to 'bell the cat' so I can't say how effective it might be.  Is the kitten fixed?  He may just be playing or he may be trying to become the alpha cat.

Great. The kitten will take a few days to get used to the collar. I would think that the bell would be a good warning to the older cats.  The kitten probably wants to kitten-play and the older cats are more dignified. Like a teenager wanting to play tag with a senior citizen.  How long have you had the kitten?

The kitten( who looks like a giant) we adopted in September 2012
Now my husband is adamant about NOT using the collar simply because the kitten(Stevie ) was acting weird yesterday. Too bad, I will try it again today

Is the bell already on the collar? If so, you could try getting him used to the collar without it first. That's what I do with ID tags. A soft cloth collar might be easier for him to adjust to first, too. They're usually homemade and available on ebay or Etsy.
