My boy Hercules could use some good TCS vibes. He's going in tomorrow to have most of his teeth pulled. It may end up being all of them, depending on what the vet finds when he gets in there. The last visit he couldn't even get Hercules' mouth open wide enough to see all his teeth.

We've been fighting stomatitis/gingivitis/chronic herpes for the last year or more. A year ago he weighed 15.5#. Last week he was barely over 10#. He's FIV negative, FeLV negative, no parasites, no other medical issues that the vet can find. The problem seems to be that his mouth is so sore he just can't eat. He loves dry food, but he stopped eating it altogether several months ago. I try to give him extra wet food, but that doesn't work well, either. It seems like every once in a while a piece of food will catch a sore in his mouth and he yelps and runs away from the food. Then he just sits there and cries because he's so hungry. :sniffle:

Pulling his teeth won't necessarily help with the sores caused by the herpes, but hopefully it will clear up the gingivitis enough so he can eat again. I also hope he's strong enough to handle the anesthesia. That's the part that worries me most right now.

Thank you. I'm about to make the whole crew unhappy. I'm pulling the food before I go to bed. It's either that or keep Hercules in the bedroom with me and lock all the others out. Somehow I don't think I'd get much sleep with kitties pounding on the door all night. :lol3:

Heading out to the vet's in a few minutes. I just have to put out some food for the rest of the kitties before I leave. :Kitty Food: :yummy:
I should be able to pick up Hercules about 4:00 this afternoon.

Just got home. He's a little dopey, but couldn't wait to get out of the carrier. The vet said he came through the surgery without any problems.

Good to hear.

Poor Hercules... I just went to the dentist recently and my mouth was pretty sore for a while, and that was nothing like what he's been through. He'll probably be pretty low-key for a while.

Lots of

I think he's feeling better already. Last night I added some warm water to his wet food and he lapped up the water but didn't eat anything. This morning he ate a whole can of wet food. He hasn't done that in forever.
