I have been dealing with a cat as some of you know with IBD. It's a tough disease. He is starting to do a little better. I am convinced it's from GM corn and the animals that eat the corn.

There is a film out called 'Genetic Roulette' which has comments and interviews by scientists, doctors and veterinarians. The symptoms of cattle and pigs eating GMO's are showing the same symptoms in IBD cats usually resulting in slow death.

The BT (insecticide) in the corn explodes the stomachs of insects that eat it and the Roundup they spray on the crops keeps the animals that feed on it from absorbing nutrients. They are now seeing stomach and intestine cells of humans and animals being destroyed when they eat the GM soy and corn. Babies are now given GM milk formula. Children have leaky gut syndrome when it didn't exist prior to 1996. BT is found in our bloodstream. Infertility has also risen in both animals and humans since the inception of GMO's in 1996. GI tract issues have also greatly increased since then. Even the 'specialized hypo-allergenic' cat foods aren't good b/c the animals that it's made are contaminated with GMO's. Therefore you are still feeding your pet toxic food.

The veterinarian's comments are cutting with examples of what and how this is happening.

The BT gene the pet or human eats from the animal that ate it now has the BT gene replicating in their intestines causing problems.

Please, feed your pets, your children and yourselves only organic. It is the only safe way.

Ben and Jerry's is going completely corn syrup GMO free by the end of this year. Anything with corn or soy that isn't organic is GM.

Despite official warnings to our government about Monsanto and Dow's GMO's, all that have 'blown the whistle' have all been fired and discredited. Lawyers from Monsanto are on the boards of the FDA and USDA.

I beg you to get your hands on this film and watch it.

BT toxin found in 93% of unborn babies

My best friend is a holistic chef and cooks for cancer patients, and she has been telling me for years to only buy organic corn and to steer clear of anything with soy in it, including soy milk, specificallly for the  reasons you state above.  I never thought about it as a cause of IBD, but your points are certainly valid in my book.  That's why I feed raw now (well, one of the reasons).  My  furbabies get NO corn or soy, and the meat they get is farm raised and pasture fed.   It's the best I can do, under the circumstances, since I can't raise my own beef, chickens, turkeys, etc. living in a large city as I do.

I'm hoping probiotics help, in both the kitties AND the humans!   What really irks me is that soon even salmon will be genetically modified
.  So what happens if one of them escapes the "farm" and breeds (?) with a wild salmon?  Then eventually the entire wild salmon pool is wiped out?

MrsGreenJeans, I'm glad to hear you're furbabies are being so well taken care of. Too late for me, but I'm wiser next time around. I hear you on the salmon. What bothers me, is what happens when we breathe the pollen of GM plants in? It's a direct line to our lungs and bloodstream. One of the cities I know of in CT, Waterbury, has GMO cotton trees. Why, I have no idea. Keep informing people and take care of those babies. If you get a chance, please watch the film.

I used to live in a farming area of GA, but I still consider myself as having limited knowledge as far as GM products. I'm guessing we're talking about Roundup Ready products rather than all GM products? I ask because almost all products are GM, even the grass for grass fed products. Organic kind of proved to be a joke when pesticides were found. In any case, it is a shame that the very organization created to protect us, the FDA, can bought off so easily (Vioxx fiasco).

,Peaches, please watch the movie and become educated on the subject. It's imperative. Biotech companies make a big deal if some farmer is unethical and advertise organics are no good. But most all organic farmers are ethical. there are two kinds of GMO's and BT Is only one of them. the BT genes replicate in mammalian blood and are now found in 83% of fetuses in a UK study. Pleas watch the film so you'll know what it's about instead of picking up pieces of misinformation the biotech industries put forth. they have an endless supply of $'s in which to do this. I promise you won't be disappointed.

I run a website for kitties with IBD and none of this surprises me at all! it's revolting and scary and we're all in danger eating all of this junk. Humans and pets alike have exploded with IBD in the last 10 years and it's only getting worse. I see so many new cases per day it's horrible! Thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention!

I wasn't intending to say that all GM products are good or bad. Just that almost every single product is GM in some way. Even the grass fed cows on my farm were on some GM products. Not to mention hormones. All tomatoes, corn, most legumes, and plenty of other foods were GM. I was just clarifying what aspect of GM products were being discussed. It IS scary, some of stuff out there.

As far as prevalence of disease, I wonder how much of what we are seeing is due to better diagnostics rather thanan actual increase in disease?

We and our cats arent just what we eat but what our animals we consume eat!
