I would like to say that I pride myself on my kitties dental health seeing I have seen the consequences of so many cases where dental care has been neglected in animals. I brush my kitties teeth at least twice a week with cat tooth paste and kitty tooth brushes (as recommended by my vet). My one cat, Poe has always has stinky breath but its never been knock you off your feet bad. My baby on the other hand has always had stinky breath since she grew up from the little puff ball of a kitten she used to be.

I am thinking about taking her to the vet for it, but I don't want to get looked at like I am crazy again by my vet. (She is 8 months now) When she was a baby I brought her into the vet for some shots, but in actuality it was for her breath. The vet looked at me like I was crazy, but then after a second sniff decided that she felt it was off too. She ran some tests and found she had a parasite (funny how well I know my little Bailey).

Any who, the point is that I brush her teeth every other day (gently of course) and her gums are a healthy pink BUT around the rim of her gums where her teeth are is a more irritated pink color (I have also tried brushing her teeth once a week and by doing this her breath only seems to get more potent) . Poe's on the other hand are not. They have a excellent diet (high end wet & dry). I feel like I have tried everything trying to get her stinky breath to go away and its starting to worry me because her gums don't look like I feel they should. I included a picture so you can see what i'm talking about, maybe it nothing. I have to say I only have 7 months of kitty experience so maybe i'm worrying for nothing, that why I love having this forum as a resource.

Keep in mind she is 8 1/2 months old so maybe her teeth are still growing in/adjusting? I don't know =/ Any information/thoughts would be appreciated :)

I know this doesn't really answer your question, but I'll share my thoughts anyway. A few years ago my then cat's breathing looked really labored. I took her a new vet in the area I had just moved to months prior, and she initially presented as fine. I asked the vet, "Would you mind taking an X-ray of her chest anyway? Just chalk it up to me being a crazy cat lady." He did, and we were both stunned at what was found: a thymoma (benign tumor) that took up HALF of her chest cavity!!! Due to her advanced age we decided it was best left alone once biopsy showed that the multiple aspiration sites showed no malignancies.

My point is, be the crazy cat lady. You haven't been wrong so far in your "diagnostics" so something may be going on. ;)

Many vibes that it's nothing serious!

Her teeth and gums look GREAT!!!! Your doing a great job with brushing. I think we all run in to the vet for many "little" things and I feel that is much safer than waiting for something "little" to get "big". Most vets understand our worries/concerns. Not sure on the stinky breath and another check of her back molars might be in order. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Yes, indeed, her TEETH look great
.  But I DO see how her gums are two different shades of pink.

I just tried looking at my cats' gumlines, and wouldn't you know it, none of them have pink gums...the only two handy to look at are black cats, and have black gums
.

For your own peace of mind, I'd probably take her just for a double check.  At 8 1/2 months, I would think her teeth would be "adjusted" (all baby teeth gone, etc.)  Those certainly look like her "big girl"  teeth
