Okay i have a nine month old cat his name is Simon. i boarded my cat at the vet  for a couple days while i was out of town and when i got him back home i noticed his lip was swollen badly, i immediately called the vet they tried to say i dropped him off like that which was a lie, i know for a fact cause i had taken pics of him the day before dropping him off. the vet told me to keep an eye on it if it got worse take him in. it got worse i took him in they said it was EGC and gave him a steroid shot. a month later it came back and i decided to switch vets i was not happy with my old vet. i took Simon to the new vet to figure out whats going on and she doesn't know we found out that he has ringworm cause he had numerous little bald spots, and he is being treated for that right now with lime sulfer dips twice a week. the vet thinks it could be three things a fungus infection of the mouth and lip, cancer or she said his bone might of grown wrong in his lip there for its pushing up against his lip causing swelling. she said she cant give him steroids or anything right now cause he is being treated for ringworm. but im going crazy his lip is looking worse and worse and it makes me sad is anyone going through the same thing any thing i can do at home to help the swelling?

Welcome to the forums! Your poor Simon. It does sound like it could be Eosinophilic granuloma complex (EGC). http://www.helium.com/items/2094894-egc-in-cats I don't know much about that condition. I am hoping others who do will come along with some helpful and supportive comments. Simon also has ringworm too!!! How awful for both of you. A good article on Ringworm here: http://www.holisticat.com/ringworm.html The steroid would be contraindicative to the ringworm. This is a very tough spot to be in with your kitty and I hope you do trust your new vet because he/she will be your best ally. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Has anyone considered it being a rodent ulcer(it has nothing to do with actual rodents)? Maybe the stress from being boarded made a flare up? I hope u get some answers.

hello thanks for the response neither vet has mentioned it could be rodent ulcer however i been researching everything i can that might cause lower lip swelling as bad as his is and i did see that rodent ulcer could be the cause im hoping that is not the case though, do you know how they test for that?

I don't think there's a test but not sure. I know it's rare. My kitten had a laceration on her lip and it scared me. So I started researching and came up with rodent ulcer. The vet looked at her and said that hers was because she bit into a chord not rodent ulcer. I hope your kitty gets better.

Rodent ulcer and ECG are the same thing. . .

It sounds like his immune system isn't great. What food is he eating? Any stress in his life? Allergies? There's usually some trigger for a flare-up, and boarding probably did it this time. I would start him on a good probiotic ASAP, and try to improve his diet and reduce stress.

did they say it was egc?

and did they do a biopsy on the lip? i'm asking because i watching a show ''my cat from hell''of a feral scottish fold male cat and his lip was swallon with bad breath the owners took him in and got it biopsyed and it was cancer and had surgery on it and now the kitty is fine
