Thank you for this wonderful site. I searched your forums but did not see this particular topic. My Siamese gave birth 12 weeks ago. I had planned to start breeding, but about six months ago I relocated to a smaller home and realized i really didn't have the space to house my male. I had made his neutering appt but they decided to go ahead anyway! So, he was neutered and she had her litter. Two weeks ago, she went into heat and he mated with her! It looked and seemed like the real thing, just like the last time.. She rolled around on the floor, stopped calling, all that. I can't tell if her nipples have "Pinked up" because she still occasionally nurses her kittens, who are scheduled to go this week. We need a pregnancy test! I know males can still perform after neutering, even if sterile. Could she think she is pregnant? Could the neutering have been incomplete? She appears to have filled out but that might be recovering from the delivery?

How long was between the neutering and the spaying?  A week after, they are easily fertile. But may be several weeks after too, as some thinks...

He knows how to do it, so he did a mating, all right. And thus, she will roll around afterwards etc...

A false pregnancy is fully possible.

So you really dont know!  Phone the vet and ask if they can do pregnancy tests on urine or bloodwork, like they can with humans.  Im not sure I have heard about it.

Welcome to our Forums!

   Good luck!

Yeah, how long has it been since he was neutered? There have been documented cases of male horses impregnating mares up to 3 months after being gelded, but I don't think there's any documentation on cats. But I would guess that it's not more than 6 weeks, most likely.

She may be having a false pregnancy. I believe that's pretty common when cats have an infertile mating.

Let's see, he was neutered on December 27, and the big event was April 5. That's three months. From what I've read the vet can tell about four weeks, if it's really a pregnancy? Then I read about things like incomplete neutering and undescended testicles. Thanks for your thoughts.

Does he act/smell less tomcat-ish? You can usually tell if he has an undescended testicle or an incomplete neuter.

My guess is a false pregnancy. Well, wait---she isn't actually showing any signs of pregnancy, is she? The act of mating is what brings them out of heat, so my guess is that she just came out of heat and is doing fine. She might be filling out because the kittens are nursing less.

No signs that I can see, yet. Two weeks since the big moment.

He isn't spraying anymore, he was a champion sprayer.
