Furryous is my FIV buddy who has been fighting since his test came back positive. We had his meds switched and I thought we finally had our miracle. He was back to jumping ob the bed, head butting, and purring. His appetite wouldn't quit and I let my guard down. I have been prepared for Rainbow Bridge knowing the vet said we are fighting a tough battle. Last night I found him stiff and howling on his side in the bathroom, where we setup his "safe box" (he always goes to this box when he is feeling bad) I have tried to get him to eat and he will lick breifly and just lay his head down. He moves around a little each time I check onvhim but basically he isn't moving. I laid my head on his chest and massaged himbtrying to give him any comfort I can and I noticed something I ccouldn't see... his little body is trembling. You can't see it, only feel it slightly but it's enough for me to know he is suffering again. My vet is closed and the nearest ER isxan hour away and I can't get him there tohight. I'm thinking hevis having some type of seizures you can see his eyes twitching some. I'm continuing his clindamycin and prednisolone, I wish there was something, anything, to ease his pain, even better, make him well. I just got his interfureon (sp) but there is no way he is well enough to handle it. If anyone has any advice I am open and hoping...

Thank you. I'm very worried right now. I normally can at least get him to eat and move around a little, but he is in really bad shape. His vet said last week that he feels like he is having so much trouble that we need to consider his quality of life... but he did so Well Tuesday thru last night

I'm so sorry your little guy isn't doing well.  Why does everything always have to happen on the weekend???????   Is he doing any better now?  Sometimes sick cats go thru bad periods and bounce back.

I know with my CRF cat, every day I was afraid to check on him, never knowing what I might find
.  He had good days, and he had bad days, and on those bad days I would look into his eyes and ask him if he was ready to go to the bridge.  One day he looked me square in the eye after I asked him and he started purring really loud and headbutted me, which he hadn't done in a very long time, and I knew right then and there he wanted to go, because every other time I asked, he jumped up and started eating
, telling me "no Mama...look, I'm eating, see, I'm a good boy!"

I guess what I'm getting at is your little Furryous will tell you when enough is enough, if you really listen to him.  Hopefully this is just a bad spell he's going thru.  I don't know his story, don't know how long he has been battling FIV, but if you've just order the interfeuron, this must be a fairly new diagnosis.  I'm guessing your Vet thinks it may help?  This must be a new treatment?  I know in humans this is used for hepatitis (or was)

that you can get him to eat and drink and get a little more comfortable.  But I do agree with your Vet, quality of life is the most important thing.

Thank you. My hubby came in from work this morning and got him to actually walk. We are trying to decide whether to start interferon today. Need lots of good vibes, purrs, and prayers.

well we started yhe interferon and gave him a bath. I was tickled to see him "rebathing" himself. It's funny what small gestures can bring us hope. In response, my vet didn't have any interest in trying the drug, he aaid the cost vs benefit wasn't there. I have another group online and a member had sent me the 2 vials of the oral overnighted and at this point we figure we have to try. He will get up and move around but only withsome coaxing.he used to love going outside before this so ee take him out every little while. Fingers crossed this workd. Thanks so much everyone.
