Having lost a cat due to a UTI blockage episode, I'm determined to do the best I can in terms of diet for my two new male kittens.  It's my main focus.  I've gotten them transitioned to all canned -- with a just a handful of kibble once a day  for a treat and some additional calories.  They drink well, and they actually prefer their food with added water.  After much trial and error in finding a good canned food, both of them now love Innova (chicken/turkey) and EVO (chicken/turkey cat & kitten)--but very few other premium brands.  Now I realize that both of these have fish in the top 10 ingredients (Innova has herring and EVO has herring and salmon meal).  The consensus on UTI seems to be no fish is good fish.  But the consensus on cat food seems to be EVO and Innova are both great foods.

Not sure if the "fish factor" is a concern in making these two foods a staple.  Anyone else have any thoughts?

Personally, unless the cat already has some urinary problems, I don't think a small amount of fish will hurt. I wouldn't use a fish-based food but if it's much farther down the ingredient list I think it'll be OK. The most important factor is the moisture, IMO.

But. . .if you want to avoid fish entirely, try the EVO 95% foods. They only have the protein listed on the can (some have fish oil but I don't think that has the same risks as whole fish). Duck, chicken/turkey, venison, beef.
