My friends,

Time has healed my concerns as to whether or not I could do this task, I assigned myself, caring for these two feral cats,

They have been cage free for almost a month and are getting along fine
As I posted previously, my only concerns lay

with making sure they both are parasite free, as I have yet to worm them. This I intend to do this weekend as I have some

time to take care of these pressing issues.

I am not quite sure how to tell if a cat has worms but my bigger cat, I now call 'puppy', cause he's as big as a puppy, looks a bit

distended to me but he is a long hair so it's kind of hard to tell. I've been trying to play with them to wear them down 40 minutes

b-4 my bedtime and it seems to work but let me tell ya they are always on the hunt, mock fighting each other I close my door @

night to keep them out of my bdrm but don't like doing that but must because I caught them spraying in my room. Don't lavish cat

spray on my pillow
!

Other than that they are adjusting well.

My concerns lie with getting them to a vet here in town and how to get them in a carrier to transport them.

They had their shots initially when I did the Trap n' release, they were chipped as well, isn't there suppose to be another shot

at 10 weeks or so? These are both INDOOR only guys

A follow up to the distemper shot is next. You can also get a wormer shot and they also make a liquid you apply to the backs of their necks now. Speaking of - make sure they get flea treatment, too. You need fleas less than the spraying!

I'd also have the vet check their ears. Being outside, they may still have ear mites. Thank you for the update. Former outside kitties are a lot of work but so worth it.

If they are newly neutered that may be reason behind the spraying.  That can take a few good weeks to get out of their system if they started spraying.

Usually you get a combo shot and a rabies at time of TNR /regular vet visit and then go back in 2 weeks for the combo shot booster.  But a rabies is not given to kittens under 16 weeks.

Aww... Thank you all for your informative postings ,I'm trying to figure out how I can gather them up to take them to the vet...This is the biggest issue I have because I am disabled and must get assistance every time I need to attend to their health needs. There isn't always someone to assist This is why I was ambivalent about keeping them in the first place Am I doing them an injustice by keeping them?

No injustice at all! You have taken on a loving responsibility and they will be better for it. Vet visits are a necessity but fortunately, once the initial activity is over, you should have some peace for a bit. Thank you for helping them. You will learn soon you get back as much as you've given them.

By the way, you can keep the carrier doors open and give them each a small treat in the carrier every day (one treat or a tiny piece of chicken, whichever tempts them more). Make it a routine, same time every day, just like playtime. You can then time your vet appointment around that. The day of the appointment, you close the door on the carrier while they are having their treat. It is sneaky and they won't go in for treats for awhile afterwards but it is easier than chasing them down and struggling to get them in the carrier.

I love my cats but rounding them up for vet visits does stink! Good luck!

ty so much...why I didn't think of that is a mystery to me.. Each day b4 goin to work they really get super-hyper angry

they know I'm leaving for the day and I think they resent it...hence: Separation Anxiety
