Last week, my eyes had allergies (flowering trees), and itched, and burned. I admit I did rub them a lot--I know I shouldn't, but the itching was maddening at times.

Now I notice I have even darker circles than usual, and, for the first time in my life, some crepiness-not really wrinkles. And I have no other wrinkles--yet!   I also had not much sleep a few times each week, for about 2 weeks. The eyes are still a tiny bit itchy and the eyelids ahve been red, though they are now much better (I no longer have the really red stripe across the eyelash area). I'm inclined to think that the crepiness is due to all of the above, and could be temporary. I hope!

What can I do to reduce the effect? I'm really looking for gentle, natural home remedies, as I have hyper-sensitive skin. I can't even wear eye make-up.

Thanks!

One of the things you see, is people putting a slice of cucumber on closed eyes. you could try this, although I would check if you have to rinse the slices after you cut them and before you put them on your eyes.

I use a natural argan oil on my face when it's dry. I have used it around my eyes, even as an eye make-up remover with no problems. It really makes my skin look brighter and fresher. I got mine at Whole Foods. It might help with the crepiness.

Dab a bit of Preparation H (Yes! The hemorrhoid cream), under the eyes.  Don't rub, and don't get it into your eye.

The ingredients in it will help shrink the blood vessels under the eye, which is the cause of the shadows.

A little trick I learned a few decades ago, when I was interested in cosmatology.

I've used hemorrhoid cream for cosmetic use, but for everyday use I use jojoba oil over freshly washed skin to lock in moisture. Jojoba oil is close to the structure of skin sebum that our skin makes.

I haven't used it for wrinkles specifically, but lots of people do. Vitamin E oil, from a capsule - the kind you ingest, is some kind of miracle thing. Open the end of a capsule and pat small amounts on the affected areas. It's very sticky so I like to do it before going to bed at night, then I can forget about it and it has a chance to soak in. I've used this to get rid of scars, spider bites, blemishes, and more...

It works GREAT if you have been crying a lot! My skin gets really raw under my eyes and cheeks get sore and bright red from the salt tears when I've been crying. (I'm talking about the grief-type stuff here that goes on for days.)  After shower and before bed, I'll pat on some Vtamin E on the sore areas and they are all healed up by morning, it's amazing!

Also if you blow your nose a lot (for whatever reason) putting it around your nostrils at night will heal that up, too.I can't vouch for and have never tried any kind of Vitamin E lotion because my skin is also very sensitive. The Vitamin E is what you want, not the perfumes and other stuff in the lotions.

Good luck, and remember that contrary to what society wants us to believe, wrinkles are pretty cool - sort of like a map of your life.
