I got my cats da bird toy and they love it. My only concern is after about 10 minuets running after it they are panting and breathing shallow. Is this ok? Am I playing them to hard? Will they stop on their own when they get to tired or will they play themselves to death? They are 1 year old and 7 months old. They are not overweight, this is the hardest they have played before though. Any input?

As long as they recover quickly it's fine.  If it takes a long time for them to recover then they should be checked for heart or lung problems.  I watch Jackson Galaxy on animal planet and he uses play therapy to rehabilitate all the cats I have seem him work with.  He believes that they should play until they are laying on their side and panting. He takes that as a sign that they have had enough.

That's the reason I got them da bird toy. I love Jackson Galaxy. They recover pretty quickly, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't pushing them to hard. Will they stop on their own when they are to tired or can I hurt them by playing to long?

I don't believe cats will push themselves beyond the point that is safe for them.  Dogs will, especially one with a high drive to please, but I don't believe cats will.
