How is the kitten now? My cat just had her litter yesterday morning, & all 5 of them were tangled together...one of them got it the worst, BOTH back feet were wrapped up, so tight, with no circulation...they're still swollen, i'm not sure how long they were like that before i found them, i'm scared the poor thing is going to lose both back feet.

Poor babies!!  <3  I had a hampster who had babies and one had a food similar to that,  the momma hampster did "fix the issue"  and she went on to be a happy healthy little baby.

Keep an eye on it.  If it looks at all like it may be losing circulation I would say get it looked at immediately!  If it always feels warm I would say it should be okay :/

Do they have feeling in the back feet? if so try massaging them every time you look at the little cuties. If no feeling then you may well be right. But from the pinkness in the picture I would say they have good blood supply so hopefully be OK. I know you would already have thought to check with the vet so I did not mention that.

What exactly did the momma hampster do?   What is the Solution?

I think she is referring to a crude Momma amputation. If Mom thinks the foot is the difference between life and death she may very well try to remove it herself. It's something to watch out for!

Yes the momma did do it.  Im just saying dont be shocked if you wake up in the morning and notice a foot missing.  I was freaked out so bad when I saw it but really it made sense.  Its natures way of taking care of business!!  Of course surgically is always the better option, but momma may sense it long before you would take her in.  Ya know??

I'm also wondering how things turned out for Token.

I had a similar situation with an older kitten years ago.  He might have been 6-8 weeks old, and he got a foot caught in a window frame. He was there for hours. The foot was very swollen, of course.  The foot was properly warm.

I took him to the vet, who gave him antibiotics to ward off infection.  Unfortunately, he only gave Amoxicillin, which a too-common, not that powerful antibiotic. Days later his foot began to stink.  Took him back in, and he had gangrene. Some toes had to come off.  I was told it would be better to amputate the whole foot, but I didn't have the heart to do it.

The kitten got better with treatment and was doing fine.  I found another home for it and told the new owner which vet had seen him.  I named him Buddy.

My point is, I found out that good circulation doesn't always mean that gangrene won't set in. It's best to give a powerful antibiotic as a preventive.

The vet who saw the kitten was not my regular vet, but an intern of sorts.  I regret letting him treat such a serious issue.  Years later, I now have the best vet ever.

I've never heard of this umbilical cord thing cutting off circulation, although it certainly is possible in any mammal.  And here there were two of you!

I don't expect to raise any more kittens, but if I did I would watch the birth more carefully.  I would just let my cat have her kittens whenever, and we were lucky.  A vet did tell me that cats have fewer problems than dogs.

Did you pm Stefan?
Yes, I did that immediately after sending my post above.  I asked for report here in the forum, but I added a PM back to me was also OK, so I would report here.  If answering here felt too difficult
