Rick gave me my Droid Razr Maxx HD cell phone!

We went down to look at the phones and ask questions. And ended up buying the Maxx HD phone. They gave me $50 off the regular price of $199 for the phone, plus no upgrade fee, so we saved $80. Rick said it was an early Mother's Day gift. He knows I've been wanting this phone for awhile now, so he figured that it was a good time to buy. It won't hurt our monthly bill.

I have 2 GB of data; since Rick didn't upgrade, he is still unlimited. We still have unlimited texting and the 700 minutes. Since most of the people we know are also on Verizon, we never use up our 700 minutes at all, so we're OK there. I've been keeping track of my data usage now for the past 5-6 months and I'm not even close to using 1 GB, let alone 2. Most of the time, I turn on WiFi whenever I can, which keeps my data usage down to a minimum. So we're good to go.

Rick is a gamer, so he's looking at a phone that would be good for him to play his games. My big concern was battery usage, so that's why I wanted the Razr Maxx HD.

I could have traded my old Droid X in for a Verizon gift card (which would have been $10-20), but decided to keep it. If anything happens to the Maxx, I still have my X to fall back on, if necessary.

Life is good!

Nice.  Yes, it is nice to have a back-up phone.  I get my brother's old ones when he upgrades, so I have 4 backups, including a Rugby.  I have discovered that I like playing Angry Birds on my Nook Color. If you use Google Play, you can get 5 versions of AB for free.  They are about 50MB each. How much memory does your phone have?

Thanks, Terry. My phone has 48 GB of memory. It came with 32 GB and I have a 16-GB chip they put in from my Droid X.  I transferred all my stuff over from the X to the Maxx HD, including all my ABs games and Word Twist. And I like having the X to fall back on, should anything happen to the Maxx HD. The guy at the Verizon store said that I was "living on the edge" by not purchasing insurance for my phone, but we've never done so.

When I bought my X, I had an old clamshell that was a very nice phone. One of my co-workers needed a new phone, so I gave it to him. It was still in great shape, had an extended battery (bc I used that phone for music when I walked....before Rick gave me my iPod), cards, car charger quite a bit of stuff. He's still using that phone.

I enjoy playing ABs on my Nook Tablet, simply because the tablet is huge compared to the phone. I had to pay for them, though, for my Nook; they were free for my phone. But I don't have to deal with those darn ads on my Nook, which makes it a lot nicer, too. Playing ABs even on my phone, though, is a nice way to spend time in a doctor's office while waiting for my appt, if I don't have my Nook with me.

The Maxx HD also has Smoke on the Water as my ringtone....I'm such a big Deep Purple fan.
Judging from most of the reviews I read, I'm going to be very happy with the Maxx HD.

I am just about to upgrade to a new phone and plan as well. Not sure what to get. How do you like the Maxx HD? I am thinking of getting that Samsung Notebook but it is really way too expensive. It has a nice big screen though!

I love the Maxx HD! It's a lot like my Droid X with a few minor changes, namely the battery lasts quite a bit longer. What really gets me is how the clarity has improved just since we got our X's. The color on the newer phones is amazing. I don't think it's because I had the HD; one of my co-workers has the regular Maxx and the clarity is so good on his phone, too.

I'm going to be very happy with my new phone.
