Sigh...I just learned of the recall when I walked into the store and saw empty shelves.  What would you suggest that I try as a substitute?  My cat has always been sensitive to changes in foods (he heaves) and I'm literally scraping the barrel on what I have left so I won't be able to gradually transition him.

I like to give my my 15 year old male finicky kibble addict some variety. Since last Sunday, he's been trying out Nature's Variety Limited Ingredient Diet in the Turkey flavor and so far, he likes it a lot. But, his attention (or taste buds) span is around two weeks so the jury is still out until he makes the two week mark. Usually, at the two week mark, he'll either continue eating it or he'll completely reject it.

I'm hoping he will like it since the ingredients in it are pretty good for dry kibble. The only drawback in the ingredients are peas and salt, but I don't know how much of the peas and salt there really is in this kibble. So far, if he live with it, then so can I.

Ingredients
Turkey Meal, Tapioca, Canola Oil (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid), Peas, Natural Flavor, Montmorillonite Clay, Coconut Oil, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Salt, DL-Methionine, Vitamins (Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin Supplement, d-Calcium Pantothenate, L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin Supplement, Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement), Minerals (Zinc Proteinate, Iron Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Ethylenediamine Dihydriodide, Sodium Selenite), Taurine, Green Tea Extract, Rosemary Extract.

BTW, he's always been a good water drinker during all hours of the day so the issue of not enough water for a cat is not a concern with him.

Thanks! I realized after asking here I'd best head back to the pet stores and determine what brands are actually available since the need was immediate.  I didn't see Nature's Variety Turkey but they suggested Wellness Core Grain Free Kitten if I wanted to stick with turkey.

Once I landed successfuly on Evo I stopped paying attention to food options so I wasn't aware of Nature's Variety.  In googling I just discovered that there's a new pet store in my town that does carry it so that will give me another option. Thanks for the input--I'm glad to have another option. I hate having to change foods quickly without any transition. I upped the canned Evo--which needed to happen anyway--and added WC kibble.  So far he's chowing it down fine and I haven't had to mop it up off the carpet, both very good signs.  I'll add in a little pumpkin plus fish oil since he's had a bad espisode of eosinophillic granular complex last fall.

Below is the nutritional info on Wellness Core Kitten for those who are reading and in the same boat.  The clerk at the pet store said it's been a huge problem since a lot of their customers did feed Evo.

Thanks for the input. Just reporting back that the Evo canned plus Wellness Kitten kibble seems to have been a pretty seamless transition.

Evo was back on the shelf in limited quantities today in my pet store so I may go back to Evo wet and dry since it's only been a few days.  Sticking with Wellness is tempting though, due to the lower calories because my cat is a chow hound!

I was going through the same thing. My cats love the Innova Prime and they were the bigger pieces too. I too heard of the recall and had to change fast. ALL my food was affected. I researched and decided on Blue Wilderness, dry and canned. My girls are such Divas they turned their nose up, but now gooble it up!! I decided that its been too many recalls on Innova food so I'm gonna stay away until it gets cleared up. I give some Wellness Core wet food to them. It's amazing that high quality food lasts so much longer. Even the canned stays fresh in their bowl. :)
