That definitely looks good - no peas, potatoes, fish, corn etc...

PFD does not carry it, and it is $72. (w/ free Prime shipping) on Amazon for 16 pounds - is there a less expensive place to buy it?
Hi! Sorry, had to run off after my first sentence of my post - kitties called!!! I was going to add that it is very pricey, unfortunately. That is the only kibble I would feed my cats (as a snack) and I do have it on hand. They get a few kibbles at bedtime. I have to keep it in my rotation for when I am going away. I need something that can be left out all day/night for my three scaredy kitties who will not come out for the sitter. You might be able to check with some of your local natural pet food stores to see if they can stock it for you. Most are very willing. I order from Amazon. I just bought the case which contains 8 two pound bags and paid $74.00 with free shipping. Then, I avoid any tax and with free shipping, that is the most economical way to go. The stores will charge the $9.99 per two pound bag, some more. Anyway, the case will last me a very long time and I like having the option to open a two pound bag rather than a 16 pound bag that may spoil after three months. My elderly dog (the unwell and finicky one) also eats it on occasion. It would be very expensive to feed solely and I would not recommend feeding any dry kibble to a cat as it's only food. But, if you are only going to use it for that "between meal snack" then it might be a doable and excellent choice, IMO. ;)

I'm curious...why did you think this one might contain corn?
She was saying that it did not contain corn. ;) :)

The "regular" Epigen would be a great option (and price !!!) but it does contain some vegetable protein which some feline nutritionists question. Epigen 90 does not contain vegetable protein thus making it a better choice, at least in my mind anyway. My kitties approve and they really think it is a treat.

Here is what Wysong says about their vege protein:

- Vegetable Protein (consisting of one or more of the following: Potato Protein, Rice Protein, Corn Protein, Wheat Protein): By special processing, the starches are removed. The remaining proteins and other important nutrient elements are then incorporated into Epigen[emoji]8482[/emoji]. The long protein chains help shape and bind the kibbles so that starches do not have to be used.

<snipped> When, my male African Serval was alive, the ONLY domestic cat food, he, could eat was<snipped>,
Wow, I forgot the link
. I know, that, I can be ditsy, but, this is really bad
. Anyway, just like Feralvr said, that, is the best dry food. The ONLY reason, that, I did not leave it out for my F3 Savannah, was, it was just too pricy for my taste. I can tell you now though, my next hybrid, will be given BOTH Evo and Wysong's Epigen 90. Plus, the whole live prey items.
How about Life's Abundance brand?
That is what my F3 Savannah, was, eating when I first acquired him. It gave him HORRIBLE GI UPSET. I am not sure, if, it is like that for most pure domestics. But, I can tell you this much, my two DSH's and DLH would NOT touch the stuff. Trust me, my cats, like the dry food, just as much as, the whole live prey
. I ended up, giving, it to someone, who, feeds feral cats. This link, shows, what is in Lifes' Abundance: http://www.lifesabundance.com/Catal...t=0&hdr=&Ath=False&ProductID=405006(Pet_Base).

Do your domestics like the food? If so, can they digest it? Also, do you know if, that, food was truly made by a licensed Veterinarian? If so, it, seems rather "carbohydrate heavy", in my humble opinion.

According to the link above, for the "regular" (organic chicken) Epigen, it states:

"...Vegetable Protein (consisting of one or more of the following: Potato Protein, Rice Protein, Corn Protein, Wheat Protein)

Over 90% of corn in the US is now Genetically Modified,

so unless it specifically states "organic corn protein" we can safely assume that it is GM,

and has either been sprayed directly with glyphosate or has pesticide DNA in its genes,

which has been shown to pass through to the animal who eats it,

where it remains in the digestive system. Therefore, no corn for me or my Kitties.

I have never fed it. Mine are on all wet. I was looking for new suggestions for SevenWonders. I might look into their canned food though.

Amazingly, I found another potential food.

Precise Holistic Complete Adult Chicken Formula

Chicken, Chicken Meal, Ground Brown Rice, Oatmeal, Chicken Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Ascorbyl Palmitate), Dried Egg Product, Citrus Fiber, Natural Flavor, Lecithin, Menhaden Fish Oil, Dried Kelp, Dried Carrots, Dried Cranberries, Dried Blueberries, Chamomile, Dandelion, Peppermint, Rosemary, Turmeric, Bacillus coagulans GBI-30 6086, Chicory Root (a source of Inulin), Potassium Chloride, Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Calcium Ascorbate (source of Vitamin C), Phosphoric Acid, Taurine, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Cobalt Amino Acid Chelate, Riboflavin Supplement, L-Lysine, DL-Methionine, Niacin, Calcium Pantothenate, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate, Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Choline Chloride, Folic Acid, Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate (B1), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (B6), Sodium Selenite, Calcium Iodate, Copper Amino Acid Chelate.

Analysis:

Crude Protein 32.0% (min)
Crude Fat 20.0% (min)
Crude Fiber 3.0% (max)
Moisture 10.0% (max)
Ash 7.0% (max)
Magnesium (Mg) 0.095% (max)
Calcium (Ca) 1.1% (min)
Phosphorus (P) 0.85% (min)
Taurine 0.2% (min)

Still not sure about the Yucca - thought it was bad for cats? I know it is an anti-inflammatory,

and it is also sold as a supplement on PetMeds site.

Again with the Peppermint (seems to aid in digestion, with IBS, and has anti-cancer properties.)

Dandelion and Turmeric have many great benefits (I take both myself.)

But, the Ash content seems high...

Any thoughts on this food?

(I might create a thread to compare this with the PetGuard.)

I have been searching and have not found anything without those ingredients yet...

It has peas, but they are listed after Salt, so I'd think the amount of peas would have to be very small.

Not sure that I am crazy about Tomato Pumice... thought tomatoes are not good for cats?

Did I hear something negative about Yucca for cats?
the ground cinnamon and ground peppermint WHAT i thought cats couldn't have and i thouht cats couldn't have tomatos :/ confused and i see a word if it had another G in it certien people would complain :/

ingredients

USDA turkey, sweet potato, whole egg, broccoli, celery, apples, flax meal, pecans, tricalcium phosphate, pumpkin, cranberries, basil, dried alfalfa, ginger root, dried kelp, zinc sulfate, vitamin E acetate, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin D3
Sounds like an Instant One Pot Thanksgiving Dinner to me... just add water and simmer until sauce thickens.

If that doesn't work, I'm getting in line for some of Krysta's cookies!

LOL, "niger" is the Latin word for black. . .which is where the pejorative term came from as well :/.

So I looked up Aspergillus Niger, and it's black mold! The icky stuff that makes people sick! But it changes when fermented; Aspergillus Niger fermentation product is a probiotic.
