They are a series of novels for youth written by several people who write collectively under the name Erin Hunter. They are about feral cats who live in the wild (and act a lot like people). Our daughter and her friends read some of the books (there are LOTS) in elementary school and were very into them - they played Warrior games at recesses and picked names and formed clans like in the books.
